also if the phone costs me $200 and i get a $100 phone instead do i get the $100 difference back? Thanks

Since you don't seem terribly sure as to whether or not you're going to like it, you might want to do your upgrade at a corporate store in your area, that way the return procedure is MUCH simpler, and the price at a direct store will be the same as upgrading through customer care. Plus, you won't have to wait for your phone! 😉

We're given discretion in the matter, because there's no sense in making people say the exact words if we can see where it's going. Also, sometimes there are other issues that make it easier just to go with save pricing and not make a situation get tense, y'know? Empowerment, it's a good thing in the right hands... 😉
