If it's within 14 days, call and say you didn't like it and are sending it back. Then you can send back with a tracking number and the phone will be credited back to your account. Then you can call in once the tracking number shows the phone has been returned and say that you want a diff phone. The rep will need sup help (you don't necessarily have to talk to a sup, just the rep will), but they will be able to get you another upgrade at a discounted price.

Since you don't seem terribly sure as to whether or not you're going to like it, you might want to do your upgrade at a corporate store in your area, that way the return procedure is MUCH simpler, and the price at a direct store will be the same as upgrading through customer care. Plus, you won't have to wait for your phone! 😉

yes BUT, when i called up t-mobile to ask them the pricing for upgrading they started discounted the phone further than the discounted price online. I didnt even say i wanted to cancel or anything and she said well...u have been a customer for a long time so i can give u the A630 for $220 with instant rebates (not mail-in)....im sure if i say i might cancel they will reduce the price to EVEN lower, which the corporate stores cant do b/c its not the dept of cancellations, if im right....so yea thats y im going to call up and upgrade.

Aleq, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it a big no-no for you guys to start offering retention pricing or other different pricing on the phone when the customer doesn't even mention cancelling?

it seemed to me that she said that b/c i have been a customer since it was voicestream, although i dont get why she was reducing the price, b/c i was asking what the discount was with mcdonalds and the upgrade policy...she gave me a # and then said that she can give me the phone for $220...idk she was really nice though 🙂

We're given discretion in the matter, because there's no sense in making people say the exact words if we can see where it's going. Also, sometimes there are other issues that make it easier just to go with save pricing and not make a situation get tense, y'know? Empowerment, it's a good thing in the right hands... 😉
