Does anyone seem to think that one manufacturer of phones has an advantage over others in the GSM area? Or are Samsung, Nokia, Motorola, etc. all pretty well balanced andit just depends on the carrier?

Personally, I fell in love with Sony Ericsson and the T68i. It's getting old; now I'm trying to decide with which SE model to upgrade.

I think it's really too bad that T-Mobile doesn't have any SE models right now (and it doesn't sound like I can expect any in the near future).

I want either the K600i, Z800i, or P910 successor. I'm leaning more toward the Z800i.

Do you already have yours, or have you preordered? If you've preordered, where did you order from?

I have a Samsung E715, Motorola V300, and Nokia 6010. If I had to rate them I'd rate them like this 1st - Nokia, 2nd - Samsung, 3rd - Motorola. The reason why i'd rate the nokia first is because it seems to have the best ability to keep and maintain a signal, however I like my samsung really well too. Both the Samsung and Nokia have good build quality. The Samsung of course has more features and a brighter more crisp display. For me, the Motorola V300 is not a quality phone. It has the weakest signal and most software problems.

Most used and recommended brands for the TMobile Customer Care reps are Nokia and Samsung. Stay away from Motorola and Siemens.
Nokia just made a solid dependable phone-low failure rate and good signal.
Samsung on the other hand is the best flip phone manufacturer for GSM providers (of course in my opinion). Good quality and signal is just a shade under Nokia.

I have to disagree on samsung quality. Never had so many dropped calls as e105 and r225. Not just me but many others who had the e105 and it was recommended by t-mobile rep and will never buy any gsm phone not made by nokia

Wow...That's unfortunate. Best phone I EVER owned (GSM of course) was the Samsung V205. Paid about $360 for it...would pay another $360 for another. Best signal quality I EVER had.

I absolutely HATED my Samsung c225. I couldn't hear people and they couldn't hear me.

The SMS UI also sucked (compared to a SE).

It was so bad that I took my T68i, which had become very unreliable, and cleaned it up. I took it apart, wiped it down, put it back together, and taped the battery back on. It works as good now as it did the day I bought it (with the exception of the taped-on battery).

So much for that "upgrade." I probably should have taken it back.

I'll never buy another Motorola or Samsung.

The ONLY phones I've been happy with so far have been made by Nokia and Sony Ericsson.

My friends also all prefer Nokia.

so I have a confession.....I have a sidekickII and I really do love it, it's been one of the best phones I've ever used....this past weekend I ran across a sale the store I was at having on T-Mobile to go...they were selling brand new Nokia 6010 kits for $29.99! So, I said hell with it and bought one...So, I've been using the phone all day today, and I have to say I'm getting rather attached lol...I've already downloaded several ringtones and screensavers, and I just cannot believe how good the sound quality amd signal strength are and how fast the wap browser is! (just using it with my regular non pre-paid account)

not that I really need 2 phones, but I think I might just keep it around for when I need a change of pace lol....plus for $...

Nokia has a substantial lead over even the second largest selling carrier which I believe at the moment is Samsung though it changes between Samsung and Motorola. Sony-Ericsson though you'd think they are a major player often is not even in the top five though they sometimes get back into the top five sellers.
