Cheapest bluetooth / internet enabled phone / plan.

I need to purchase a bluetooth phone to use with my ipaq hx4700. It is very convenient to connect to the net through bluetooth without having to plug in a cable or a compact flash card. I did this once via a Cingular Blue v551 and it worked flawlessly.

What is the most inexpensive way to use T-Mobile (or maybe Cingular?) to get unlimited network access via bluetooth in this way? T-mobile seems to charge $29.99 for this and Cingular Blue charges $79.99.

Can I get the internet plan alone, or must I purchase a voice plan as well? Is there a cheap, unlocked, bluetooth phone that I can purchase online and just put a t-mobile sim into it?

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help,
crazyjeremy

The internet feature is 19.99 when added to a voice plan, or 29.99 as a stand alone. Moto V330 is coming available soon at a pretty reasonable price, or you can get any unlocked GSM 1900Mhz phone you want and it'll work. I'd personally go for one branded to TMo just for ease of use, but if you're the adventurous type you can go for it... There are also bundled plans if you want to use HotSpot WiFi along with the GPRS data, and yes, unlimited means just that--we don't cut you off because you use "too much." 🤣

What's the best way to get this added onto an existing account? I'm trying to get the phone for as cheap (free?) as possible as well. Also, if your prof email is correct, I might've just sent you a message offline.

Features can be added to an existing account by customer care, and can also be added through your MyTMobile account as well. If you're activating a new line, shop around for the best deal on a phone, but if you go through an indirect dealer or an online site that isn't TMobile.com call up CC when you get the phone to make sure the account is set up correctly and all your plans and features are the way you want them. If more customers would call in right up front it would save a lot of hassle down the line--mistakes get made, and it's wise to monitor your own account closely at first to make sure it's all correct.

I definately understand. I'm responsible for a large number of cell lines at my company. Very few are with T-Mobile. As a company we had trouble with T-Mobile so before I even got here they made a decision not to use them unless we have to.

Personally, I want a t-mobile account. I even have an old (unused) blackberry that I could turn up.

Can I get the $29.99 data plan ONLY on the blackberry? I have a sim. Not sure if it's good or not. I know the blackberry is good... I could always use this for now until I get a cheaper bluetooth.

thoughts?

Yes, unless you'll be using a BES or redirector. Then it would be $10 more.

If your company has a corporate account with RIM (blackberry), it is called BES (Blackberrry Enterprise Server). It is always going to be managed by the company subscribing to the account, and the server will be provided to the company from Blackberry. Most times, if not all the time, your IT department would be responsible for managing it. This is going to allow for multiple blackberry devices to be used for mostly company e-mail and support.

The BIS (Blackberry Internet Service), formerly called Web Client is a server as well, but provided by blackberry, managed a...

I like that phone. We have dozens of them on our Cingular account.

If I use bluetooth through it from my laptop or my pda, does it cost more? Is "tethered" internet access considered or priced any differently than regular $29.99 internet or do they care?

Even if you use the handset as a modem, the previous internet prices quoted still apply. 19.99 when added to a plan (unless you want corp e-mail access, then it's $10 more) or 29.99 when not added to a plan (unless you want corp e-mail access, then it's $10 more.)
