What I want to know is this AT&T buyout of T-Mobile going to effect my job. I work in the Web and Telesales support department. Yes the ones you get when you call to check on your order, get a credit for shipping, or to exchange your new phone for a different one. 😉
Is AT&T going to get rid of our T-Mobile service reps and just keep their own? 👀 yeah, I'm worried sick, I need my job bad. I also have a T-Mobile dealer plan. It's an awesome deal that T-Mobile gives to it's employees. Is AT&T going to honor it? I have not heard good things of AT&T and I'm not happy about that change.
Go AWAY AT&T!!! GO AWAY!!!! 😢

AT&T will be the one to tell you this in about a year if/when this all happens.

Besides, with the new influx of customers, AT&T will need way more reps than the ones they have now, so a good part of you guys will keep their jobs...

They may not be doing the same thing, but I'm sure they'd find some place for most of them.
...
Assume they will.
Then look for the best exit deal you can get. Above all do not ever believe your management on these matters. They have a fat performance bonus promised them to hold this mess together to the bitter end. Your concerns and well being is the last thing on their minds. No company cares about you, anything they state is pysco-babble. Terminated at 28.5 years and cheated out of every promise made to me at 25 years of age.
Yes I see everything very clearly now.

Same question I had as soon as I heard about this. Which location are you at? Idaho?

YOU'RE FIRED
Love,
Your friends at AT&T
but seriously nothing will happen for at least a year, your job is safe for now
...
Heck a company with 125+ million customers will need a lot of call center reps.
* Though I'm sure there will be quite a few defecting to Sprint in the next 2yrs or so. *

If Sprint manages to stay afloat.

Let's hope so; my paychex depend on it.
...
And there sould be a few that go to verizon as well... O wait they prob can't pass the credit check!
...
You wanna know what will happen? Ask the folks who worked the Comcast account there at CP... oh wait, you can't... they're all gone. Looks like I got out of there just in time.
...
My apologies, it was AT&T Broadband if I recall correctly. They got bought out by Comcast which lead to the mass layoffs.
...
yea - we'll be safe for another year atleast. then who knows. but like someone else said about the CP AT&T/Comcast deal. They had voluntarily layoffs then turned to mandatory.. so goodluck to all of us 😉
...
Depends on whether you make more or less than your AT&T counterpart. Chances are...it's less and that is probably a good thing.
...
So your saying that chances are it'll be the ATT employees that make more that will be the ones laid off before the Tmo employees?
...
More than likely your safe for now. What usually happens is that AT&T will create all these new positions just like yours and you will have to re-apply for your job again. If you get it great...if not better dust off the resume.
...
I think the loss of jobs will happen especially with a merger of this magnitude. Take a look at Cingular/AWE and Sprint/Nextel. Layoffs will happen that is why mergers are not good. Just make sure you are doing your best. You still have a year if longer before the government agencies take a look or approve this merger with conditions. Also it might take more than 3 years before the integration is final. I wouldn’t worry right now but in a year or so I would if you are not doing well at work.
And you never know.. in 2012 the earth might end.
