PTT for T-Mobile might be true . . .

I called customer care earlier today and asked if T-Mobile will be launching any new services like PTT. The guy said "I am not sure let me check" . . . so he searches and after a few mins he says "I don't think so, nothing came up as PTT for T-Mobile" then he was interested in where I got this information and I told him "Phonescoop.com". Right before he types in the site's address he says "Wait I think I found something". He goes and opens it and tells me what it says . . . "T-Mobile has regional and national calling centers and that there is a calling center in the eastern U.S.A (he couldn't tell me exaclty which state or location . . . b/c I guess it's "top secret") that their employees in that center are testing out some phones and the PT...

Ahhh . . . but you already CAN ptt through T-Mobile's network. You just have to set up everything for yourself. You get a Symbian Series 60 phone like say a Nokia 6600 (that's the phone that I did this on). Then you download Agile Messenger onto it. Agile Messenger is an IMing software that also allows you to send voiceclips through the internet. If your friends also have Symbian-OS phones and a Yahoo, ICQ, or AOL account, then you can PTT back and forth through t-mobile's network. You just have to find an open port that's compatible with the messaging account that you are using.

FYI...."testing" and "launching" are two very different things.

We just finished testing a "Talk or Walk" gaurantee in a few select markets. The idea was that if a customer wanted to cancel service due to poor call quality/reception at anytime during the contract they could, and get a full refund on their purchased phone. T-Mobile decided not to launch this nationwide after the test period ended.

So we have to be careful about what we say is coming, and what we hear is being tested.

Although....the new Nokia 6101 is supposedly PTT compatible.... 😈

There are no plans for PTT at the moment. It's not a top priority like other things the company is looking into.
