OK... got to get a new phone as many of you can tell from my previous thread. My V600 just does not pull down a decent signal in my house....

Soooo.... loooks like with T-Mo's current offerings it's gonna be a V330 or the RAZR... which to get???

Thoughts?

Get the V330! Better phone. Only thing about the RAZR is the design. Plus, it has the same OS as the v600. The V330 has EDGE, and video recording. Those are the major advantages. The RAZR is over hyped. Its getting old now.

I have heard that from others.... that the V-330 is really the better of the two... I'm going to have to re-consider, because to be honest with you, I have been leaning toward the RAZR. The only reason I have been leaning RAZR is I really just use my phone to talk on, and I like the design. EDGE and video recording are definitely features that, in a way, make the V330 superior, but I'll never use them. In fact, I don't see myself buying another phone for "features" until they come up with one that has about a 3-4 megapixel camera and I can truly use it as a replacement for my digital. The only "feature" I really NEED is bluetooth. I use that all the time on my current V600. Hmmmmmm... Thankss for the thoughts... still thinking.. Anyone...

Plus, teh V30 does have bluetooth. The RAZR has to treated like a baby. One minor drop and that thing can break in half. If you get that phone, you need to put insurance on it.

good point.... It is one of those "form over function" phones that you have to be really careful with, isn't it? That's the nice thing about phones where you can change the shell/face plate. Like the old Nokias... the 3390 and stuff... You could drop it off a building and if you bust up the shell, you go buy another for like $10 and you've got a new looking phone. What about the V330? Can you change the look of it? I just don't like the blue all that much. The only reason I have been leaning RAZR is form factor and looks. Other than that, I think the V330 may be the way to go...

yeah you can change the front and back shell since its the same shell as the V300, except with the newer software, and added features.

Nope. If you drop the RAZR, all depends on the seriourness of it, it could break the phone.

i have the razr and i did actually drop it the other day and it didnt even leave a scratch..as for the video the t-mobile version of the razr has video...i havent had any problems with the phone at all and i am completely happy with it...the speakerphone is great on it and the ringtones on it are great as well...the video on the v330 isnt all that great and we sell alot more razrs than v330s. if you do change the face on the v330 than it will void your warranty(atleast thats what my higher ups say) anyway, those are just my two cents worth. take it with a grain of salt.

Again the real deciding factor between the two phones would be form factor. Edge until buildout is complete would be a negligible feature. The bonus of video capture probable would not weigh in on your decision if your primary purpose is voice communication. I presently have the RAZR and feel it to be a significant upgrade over the V600. Yes the software is the same, but overall a far superior phone. Once I am comfortable of T-mobile's future presence in the marketplace I would and a commitment to 3G then perhaps a V360 might be in order.

Though I agree that the RAZR is over-hyped, the T-Mobile RAZR does indeed support video recording. It's something of a convoluted interface, but it does do it.

I stand behind my earlier comments with regard to the RAZR. It is a very solid phone with excellent voice/RF performance. As T-Mobile has relatively few EDGE site built-out and the V330 is not marketed touting it's EDGE capabilities I call the differences between the two a wash.

right... it still kinda comes down to form to me. Although I have to admit, I'm a little concerned about durability...

Ok.. that's cool to know that they both have it... but personally.. and maybe I'm makeing myself seem really behind the times here... but I could care less about video recording. I don't see the value really. I mean, do people really use it. I just don't see what the value of a 10-30 snippet of no-sound/poor quality video really is. If you want to record video, I still think the thing to do is buy a video camera. Same thing with the cameras on cel phones. Until they have a cel phone with about a 4 megapixel camera (which I'm sure will be out very soon in Europe and Asia, if not the US) I don't see the point in that either. Those kinds of features will really not be a selling point to me until I can use them as a relacement for my other...

First off the RAZR is a very robust product. I very impressed with it's build quality as compared to both other Motorola products and other manufacturers. As far as the picture/video capabilities I cannot speak on them as I do not use them. My first consideration when choosing a product is it's ability to make and receive calls and then form factor. For me right now the RAZR seems to be performing quite well.

I'm with you on that one... I culd care less about video as I mentioned in my previous post. I think I need to see a working RAZR to appreciate if it is really for me. I have seen the non-working demo, but I have a feeling that does not do it justice, as they never so seem to really look and feel like real phones.

Very true... I think you will be impressed once you try a working model. Additionally, if you should get a RAZR and don't feel it lives up to your expectations remember you have 14 days to decide if you like it or not.
