T-Mobile Tries to Make Its Case!

Once upon a time, the only Wi-Fi access available outside the comfort of your own home came with a price tag that could exceed $10 per hour. Over the past 18 months, however, coffee shops, bookstores, and other places where people like to lounge have begun to offer Wi-Fi Internet access for free; the hope is that customers will hang around longer and buy another book or cup o' joe. The question in many people's minds has been whether paid Wi-Fi could survive this onslaught. This week T-Mobile, operator of the world's largest network of hotspots, gave the wireless industry the first peek at an answer.
