What happened to the A630 . one of few cool looking phones with QWERTY keyboard, E-mail ability N A small, unique size. Kept putting off buying because I have $99 old ATT unlimited minutes plan so I would need an unlocked A630.seemed as though some issues with unlocking these so I kept waiting for that to change or for CINGULAR 2 sell. Why would T-mobile quit selling this phone ? Is it available anywhere but EBAY? tHANX 4 HELP

T-Mobile has gotten rid of thier best phones lately:

Moto A630, V300
Sharp TM 150
And another handset, but I forget what it is.

T-Mobile needs to get rid of that aweful Siemens CF62 phone. I can't believe they discontinued the better phones first!

I agree. The A630 offered something no other phone has. And it was (one major) reason I switched to T Mobile. I like flip phones but there are TONS of them out there. There are Palm phones but they're HUGE. This is the only phone that put both in one. The Sidekick is nice but it's also big and lacks BT. I hope there is an A630 replacement in the works. Maybe with a more modern AIM client and 16:9 screen that also supports EDGE or something faster for data. But I'm sure that's asking for alot to be put into a phone the size of the A630. Or is it?

As a retail rep I gotta say we were as shocked about dropping the a630 as the rest of the world.

The big reason it was pulled was that it spent most of it's life in the shadow of the Sidekick II. It has many of the same features, but was never marketed, while we drove the heck out of the Sidekick II in TV/Radio/Print ads. It was a nice little phone, but most people who were looking for something that did all it does went with the Sidekick because of its "Hey, Snoop Dogg and that idiot from Limp Bizkit have this" factor, or the Blackberry because it has a lot more features and a better keyboard.

The keypad on the A630 was a bit small for most male customers, and the software crashed a lot as well.

Hope this helps

The problem with the sidekick and the blackberry is the size. They're HUGE. And not to mention the Sidekicks lack of Bluetooth. And I'm not sure what balckberry you're comparing the A630 to but the QWERTY keyboard on the 7520 (one of the larger blackberry's) is smaller than the A630's and the keys are closer together making it harder to use without pressing two keys. The biggest reason people give me for not going to theh A630 has been it's lack of calendar syncing (iCal, Exchange).

I'd love an explanation on this one too. It would be the phone for the wife... Looking for something with BT, speakerphone, camera, and a keyboard. Other than the A630 there's not much. 😢
