I was just looking at the mytmobile, and looking into buying a new phone, or upgrading. anyway when i was looking at my choices and stuff, some of there phones had prices after a 2 YEAR CONTRACT RENEWAL!!!! I'm pissed! if tmobile starts to do this, they will lose a LOT of there customers, and not be able to keep up with there competition!
has anyone heard are they going to start to offer the 2 year contracts for new customers, and upgrading customers?
...
I'm not sure what they are actually up to, but it looks like they have set up the option for a one year or two year contract. The two year giving a better discount on phones.
...
Most cell phone companies seem to be asking for two years these days. I would actually rather pay more for the phone than to lock into a two year contract.
...
from what I was seeing from the T-mobile 2 yr agreements, it was only saving you $20. Cingular 2 yr saves you $75. There is no way that I would sign for 2 yrs for that little.
...
I wouldn't recommend the 2yr right now. You are correct that it is only $20 on select phones and you have to wait 22 months for another discount. This just wasn't thought through. Right now it is only on upgrades. Voice your dissatisfaction with this by only signing a 1 year upgrade.
...
I think I will show my dissatisfaction by not renewing my contract any time soon.
...
Actually, T-Mobile is going to give you the option. Of course, the longer the contract, the cheaper the handsets. And no, there will not be two year contracts at this point for new customer, and I doubt there ever will be.
...
I have long suspected that T-Mobile would eventually go to 2 year contracts. It was only a matter of time. I noticed that on mytmobile it only gave me the option of signing on a 2 year extension if I upgrade my phone. I think that is definantly a push for 2 year contracts.
Currently on the website T-Mobile has one year contracts, but I am suspecting that by Christmas it will be two years.
Once my contract runs out I am going back to prepaid wireless. It is more cost effective for me because I am a light user.
Plus having a plan is too expensive. Most carriers' plans start at 40 dollars a month, and my current plan is only 20 dollars a month!!!

I think it's a test balloon, if it doesn't work it will go away. One year contract prices are available through corp stores and customer care, we just aren't supposed to lead with the one year prices. On the other hand, there are only like four high end phones with additional two year discounts, so the vast majority of customers are probably going to end up with the shorter contracts, at least as it is now... subject to change without notice, don'cha know! 🙄
...
We are only going to 2yr contracts if you want the better discount on the HS upgrade program. New activations, rate plan changes, Smart Access conversions will still be only 1 yr contracts.
