Hi everyone I just wanted to ask other If I should stick with T-mobile by extending my contract or I should get cingular. I already have T-mobile.The only reason I like cingular is the selection of there phones. Does anyone have any clue of any tight phones or handhelds coming out for T-Mobile. Plz tell if you guys know about any new upcoming phones.

I've had T-mobile and it was great!!!! Their customer service is the BEST! I switched to AT&T Wireless cause I started working for them and then of course it became Cingular. This to me was a welcome change, as I always admired Cingular. So, here it is the straight dope! If you want a company with good cust svc, and a network that has good svc in major metros but questionable outside of those areas stick with T-mobile BUT if you want a company with decent cust svc, a rocking network that works everywhere (just about) and the hottest phones, JOIN US @ CINGULAR!!!!!!!!!!!

Stick with T-Mobile. Do yourself a favor and enjoy the best customer service that is open 24/7/365, excellent rate plans which garantee you to get more compared to other companies like Cingular, Verizon, and Sprintel, and take advantage of phones that can be used all around the world, since they they have 900MHz phone. The 850MHz is for people who go to rural areas, but if you are a person who sticks to major metro area, then stick with T-Mobile.

Avoid those crazy billing issues.

1.#1 customer service at T-mo.
2.Cingular will want to have 2-year contract to start with, while most phones only have 1-year warranty from the manufacturer. Go figure!
3.Cingular doesn't unlock their phones. T-mobile does. It makes a big difference in that Cingular thinks they own your phone and you. An unlocked phone gives you freedom of going with any carrier in the future. I have an unlocked phone and made my choice by staying with T-mobile.
4.I agree with you Cingular currently has better phone choices. But T-Mobile is coming out with Nokia 6101(this week), Moto V360, HTC Tornado and Universal, etc. Siemens SL66, at Cingular, is made by none other than HTC company.

Bottom line, do some comparison shopping and arrive at your o...

T-Mobile has already launched the Nokia 6101. I think you should copy what you wrote and reply directly to the Original poster. I basically said the same thing to the OP.

All quad-band phones on Cingular are unlocked, and a lot of Cingular's phones are quad-band.

Not really. I heard that Cingular stopped selling unlocked phones. Now, they are locked and Cingular will not unlock them.

Well first of all, I am family friend of a Cingular rep. Secondly, you would have never been able to hear that information without hearing it direct from a rep or an employee of Cingular. Whoever told you got it wrong.

And I'd gladly give you the proof but that would require me to buy a quad-band phone and pop in a T-Mobile SIM card in your presence. There's no other way for you to know, so continue thinking what you will.

Our Quad Bands are not unlocked. Most of our phones were unlocked for about 3 to 4 months before the AT&T buyout due to an international roaming issue.

Our phones are all locked. They will not read any card including former AT&T phones. Go to a Cingular store today and put your T-Mobile sim card in it if you do no believe me. Do not grab someone's 16 month old GSM phone from Cingular because that was a rare time.

What market are you in? A friend of mine is a Cingular rep and has assured me that quad-band phones are unlocked. She made a point of it to get the information straight because I wanted to buy an unlocked Moto v551 from Cingular. This was more recently than before the buyout. February of '05 actually.

Ruff, Does that mean that my Cingular branded RAZR is unlocked???? Because I didn't think it was. And Cingular CSR's have told me that it isn't.

I work for T-Mobile and I am biased but...
Here's what I have heard from my customers about our service.
If you get reception in 90% of the places that you need it with T-Mobile then stay with us. We have better rate plans and better customer service.
The only knock I have against my own company is the lack of coverage (mainly in building coverage).
As for Cingular I have received a lot of complaints from former Cingular customers about Cingular Cust Care.
Everybody talks about the size of the company...50+ mil strong.
That's great if all of your friends and family are on Cingular but if you have a lot of friends and family on other providers then you will need more WHENEVER minutes and you GET MORE with T-Mobile.

Well, I have worked for just about every cell phone company out there(currently with Sprint) and I can honestly say that T-Mobile is the best company to go with, assuming that they have coverage in the area that you need it. Their customer service is friendly and reliable, their coverage is good in the areas that they have coverage, and their billing is usually pretty accurate. I would stick with T-Mobile, rather than switching to Cingular, which is one of the worst companies in just about every aspect. If coverage is an issue, then try Sprint or Verizon, but there is no reason to go to Cingular...the phone selection is not worth the headaches.
