Getting Rid of Smartaccess??? Take Control- Taking over???

I don't know if anyone else has heard this. But, the market trials T-Mobile has been doing with "Take Control" have been having some positive results. I'm aware of three different versions Take control, the one I'm talking about basically eliminates the possibility of a customer being charged overages. When a customer reaches their minute mark they use a T-Mobile TO GO refill card to get extra minutes if they need them. This particular market trial allows for $500 deposit waivers, but has limited plan and feature choices. I heard SMART ACCESS IS GOING BYE BYE. Has anyone else heard this???

Well, in Take Control markets there aren't any Smart Access activations allowed, so it seems reasonable that if TC works out pretty well (still a few bugs coordinating between prepaid and postpaid billing systems!) it will be the replacement for SmartAccess--and welcome to it!

That would really be nice. Take Control is also going to be an option for regular account customers as well. Basically a way for T-Mobile to beat Sprextels Fair and Flexable plan. My question is won't this hurt T-Mobiles ARPU(average rev. per user) even further? I guess the increase in customers they expect to keep from this will offset the revenue loss.

Good point! But I would wonder which is more damaging ARPU or churn.

Churn is worse by a long country mile--besides, Take Control accounts require the same one year contract as any other postpaid service, and it's going to appeal like crazy to parents who find prepaid to spendy but want to keep a tight rein on their teenagers. You can have a Take Control subscriber on an account with regular plans, or a separate TC account to keep the enthusiastic off the smaller family share plan. We're going to make a mint off this, mark my words... 😉

Aleq, I couldn't agree more. I have been waiting for T-Mobile to launch this nationally for a while now. I just hope it's sooner than we think as apposed to later. This will differentiate T-Mobile from the rest. Definatly! 😁

Smart Access was nice for it's day and age but it is now being surpassed by a lot of companies. The problem with a lot of Smart Access customers is that they get upset at us because they go over their minutes (after we give them multiple tools to check it) and expect us to restore their service when they go over their $150 spending limit balance.

TC is the wave of the future...

It's not just a TC thing, it's a market trial in the Orlando FL market, 1500 mins 39.99, with unlt'd N/W 49.99.

Well... Smart Access is for customers with little/or poor credit. It allows the customer to get 1 line without paying a deposit. Take Control is a current Market trial T-Mobile is doing. Their are a few variations of this trial. #1) Is meant to compete with sprints fair and flexible plan. Once a customer has used their minute bucket they can use T-Mo To Go cards to give their account some extra minutes. (eliminates high overages)
#2) To destroy any cricket or Metro user/ No credit check/ month to month/ phone costs more upfront/ But same basic idea as the first version/ "Once a customer has used their minute bucket they can use T-Mo To Go cards to give their account some extra minutes."
