SmartAccess to Regular Acct Conversion Question
I started my T-Mo service 12 months/2 weeks ago, and since then have had 3 suspensions along the way. Now, I have a SmartAccess account, so it was my understanding that I would have to wait another 3 months (due to the interruptions) before I would be eligible to switch to a normal account.
However, when I talked to the rep, he said that I was eligible and would be more than happy to convert me. I'm talking to him about adding on a second line for my fiance and was checking out what deals he could give me. They were pretty crappy prices, and I personally am holding out for the V360, so I told him let's just ...

You were on a 1 yr contract right? Which means it has now expired, and you are going month to month. It sounds like you are trying to do a phone upgrade also with the account change? Which explains why they need to get you into another contract.
Maybe I'm all wrong...just throwing out an educated guess.

Okay, that's all wrong. IF you're eligible for conversion to a regular postpay account you don't have to up your contract--unless you want to be on a rate plan which is promotional and requires the contract, even if it's the same plan you have now. See, when a SA account is converted it has to change the rate plan from a SmartAccess plan to anything that's not SmartAccess. If the plan you want is promotional, it requires a contract. Here is the scoop...what Aleq said was right.
The only time T-Mobile requires a 2yr contract is if you get the ultra max discount on a handset upgrade.
Rate plan changes and new activations and SA conversions are all 1yr contracts.
