This is for all you T-mobile Reps out there. I just purchased a SDKII 10 days ago. I really like it but as I have researched more I hear that T-Mob is coming out with perhaps the next gen in smartphone, HTC Wizard, (Edge; WM5.0) in the next few months. I want to return the SDKII and wait it out and see as I would hate to buy this phone then find it obsolete in 90 days. I just got off the phone with T-Mob Advanced care and the rep told me that should a new phone come out in 2 months 3 months whatever that I could upgrade at a price below new customers as long as I would sign a new contract. It sounds too good to be true. I have her name and # and she says she notated this on my account. I want to know if this is true? All feedback go...

You have to send or give back the sidekick II, after about 10 days call up custumer service and ask them if they received it, if yes they will notate that on the account and you're good to go.
...
I am sorry but I do not undersatnd your reply. Are you saying that In 2 or 3 months if I want to take up the advanced care rep's offer I will need to send my sidekick back for the deal?
Are there any other Reps out there that can confirm wether an advanced care rep can make a legitimate offer like the one outlined in my first post?
...
She is saying you need to return the device you have now. If it was sent to you, you need to send it back and then wait about 10 days to call in and make sure they have it...

Ok I understand that. My main question still has not been answered. Can an advanced care rep make a commitment such as the one outlined in my 1st post. I will repeat. She stated in 2 or 3 months should a new phone come out that I want I can call in and pay lower than new customer pricing as long as I sign a new contract. I believe this goes against most phone company policies of upgrades every 12 or 24 months.

If your SKII is your first time mobile phone you can go return it right now and when a device comes out that you like you will be eligible for the new customer pricing.
If your SKII is an upgrade you can do one of to things:
1) Keep it and when something new comes out upgrade again. Your pricing will NOT be same or better than new but it will be discounted from retail pricing. IE If you've had a phone for 3 months and wanted to get a RAZR you'd probably pay about 265. New or full upgrade is 200. Retail is 300.
2) Return it and when something new comes out you will receive you're full upgrade eligibility. IE After rebate the RAZR would be 200 after rebate.
You have options. Good luck

They will honor whatever is notated in your account.

you should call back to customer care and speak the the floor manager (not supervisor) and have them verify the deal and read back the notation they made to your account. Tmobile has great CARE
but believe it or not theres always that newbie u might get that just wants u off the phone. This particular subject is interesting, in all the years ive worked with tmobile this is a first time i have heard of such a proposal. Though it may be a valid offer, get the exact details from the manager. Remember u have 3 more days to get this right.

No one has addressed what happens if you are actually a new customer. Just so you know, if you decide to return the device (SKII) in your buyers remorse and cancel service until the HTC Wizard (or whatever device you go with) comes out, you CANNOT get same as new customer pricing. Reason behind this is T-Mobiles policy that requires you wait 90 days before being considered a new customer. So, just make sure if you decide to return the SKII, you will have to wait a full 90 days to reactivate to get the new customer options. And, by the way, the offer is too good to be true IF indeed you are a new customer. Like mark0000 said, you have to be qualified to get the max discount (same as new customer pricing). Finally, do not listen to bnpballer's...

Thank you your mom goes to college that was more of what I was looking for. Let me ask I signed up for a family plan and I think I want to keep one of the phones downgrade the plan to a single phone plan and wait 90 days as I have heard the Wizard is delayed until 1Q 2006. Is this feasible? I did call and speak to a CC rep she spoke to her floor man and he read me the notes and concured that recent memo's backed up their position of being able to still offer me new customer pricing. He put his name a id# in the notes as well. Look forard to your reply or anyone else's who understands what I am asking.

I'm surprised a manager went to those lenghts. Obviously he isn't too worried about his job if he is breaking policy like that. But, that's now beside the point. To answer your most recent inquiry, if you want to cancel one line and do as you had mentioned, that would work just fine. Then, once you add the second line back on when the Wizard comes out, you can go back onto the family plan. So, your answer is yes. You can do that. :-)
