Been looking around for a new carrier, and you guys seem to bhe the cheapest national carrier. Why is that?

Gota ask because life has taught me that you get what you pay for. But if youre cutting the corners in places I don' care about, then thats all good.

Because you can get more minutes but less coverage to use them on.

Coverage is not an issue. T-mobile covers 98% of the U.S. population. now if you live in the middle of nowhere and your favorite thing to do is watch tumble weed blow across the road then you might be better off going with a carrier such as verizon or sprint that use the older technology. If you travel internationally as well you cant get any better, as T-Mobile's sister company is out of Germany, and they also have roaming agreements with all major carriers over seas.

-in this case you don't only get what you paid for, you GET MORE FROM LIFE

Ok so like if the coverage is GOOD, why is everyone else in the thread saying that it might not be so good?

Can anyone bust a good coverage map, or do I just scope it at t-mobile.com?

use www.compass.t-mobile.com this is their Personal Coverage Check. It is updated every 30 days by techs that drive around with equipment checking signal strength both in and outside of buildings as well. no other carrier has this all they have are prnted maps that are nothing more that good guesses.

Thanks for the hookup, but using www.compass.t-mobile.com doesn't work. I did get to the site once I got rid of the "www" part, but when I put in my address, I get a broken picture icon where the map is supposed to be, and a "waiting for" message in da status bar.

Maybe theyre just down right now?

yea sorry about that, unfortunately i am a MAC user so i know all about not being able to view things. you can also drop by any corporately owned T-Mobile store and a the reps would be more then happy to pull it up for you on their system. that might also be the problem it may only be assessable off of the corp server.

The reason they have that Personal Coverage Check is so that any potential online activations will be able to realize pre-activation that they do not have service in their house. Such is life for probably half the potential customers they would have.

Wrong! Vzw actually has a team dedicated to testing cell sites. The "can you hear me now" is not just an advertising gimmick. Please do not make claims that are not true.

mistercrinkles answer is somewhat correct. it really depends on where you live and your anticipated travel. If you live in a T-Mobile coverage area where they have good coverage and don't anticipate travelling out of it too much, then it might be a good option for you. But if you travel in or live in an area where T-Mobile coverage is weak, you might be better off sucking up a little cost and going with Verizon or Cingular. I live in the Los Angeles Area of California and T-Mobile works pretty good here and has been improving over the years. As a matter of fact, my T-Mobile coverage is actually better than my NEXTEL coverage was, especially at the beach.

Check the coverage where you live and places you travel frequently. If the coverage seems pretty good, the go for it. T-Mobile has the best customer service in the industry. We may not have coverage on aunt Sally's farm, but in most populated areas and major highways, there is decent coverage.

You’ll lose coverage if you pull over to hit a rest stop. No service 😈 < Then you will know what cheapness got you. Just buck up the other twenty bucks a month, and get β€˜IN’ πŸ™‚

Actually to tell you the truth who think t-mobile's coverage is bad ur wrong cuz t-mobile coverage is actually better than sprint and nextel so ur wrong. There not that bad. There starting to work good in rural becuz there using 850 band with roaming partners. They might have more customers but think about it this way that t-mobile is been around only a few years where other companies have been out for a long time.

I had t-mobile for one year in Bellevue, WA (t-mobile corp. headquarters) and service was lame.
I know it works great for many others, I say if it works for you, go for it! I just like not having to worry about spotty coverage πŸ˜›

Sprint's coverage is the worst in Overland Park Kansas as well, it has to do with all of the employee's on that network as well as city regulations on new cell sites.

Well, first T-Mobile has been around for a while, second T-Mobile is World's second Largest Provider that 's why it offers such good rates(New Plan 1500 w N&W for 39.00 can't beat that). Another thing T-Mobile is offering many cool features: My Album, Messaging Bundels, and Edge for a really good price just to name a few... Cingular is coming out with 3G But have you seen the rates... I am not saying that T-Mobile is gonna work for everyone. Check you personal coverage(T-Mobile is honest about it) Compare the price of the features and Don't forget about 1yr contract instead of 2yr.
New phone every 12.

T-Mobile doesn't have the coverage of xingular or Verizon. What they have to offer is more value for your money. This will work fine for you if T-Mobile works where you need it to work. For many people this is the case. However, it's not a fit for everyone. If you get crappy T-Mobile service at your house or at the office even a "bargain" carrier is no bargain if you can't use it.

well tmobile usa caters to the demographic that doesnt spend a lot for the phones and services. that has always been their forte. they really dont have a lot to offer as opposed to the other carriers. they basically sell their mins cheap so that they will try to steal some of the customers in the lower economical range. they are very good with prepaid and prepaid services are usually people who do not spend a lot of money on cell phones.

hope that helps.

One thing of note. Most of what you said is true, except, not just low income customers like T-Mo. I happen to be in a high income position and I still prefer to check for bargain prices. Let's go K-Mart. πŸ™‚
