Im intrested in purchasing an unlocked phn but first I would like to know the cons of doing so. If if i bought a phn established for ex. cingular service ( 👿 ) would i still be able to access t-zones and download ringtones or surf the net from the phone or will those applications become obselete?

no cons really, once you have the phone unlocked and have t-mobile service, just go to mytmobile.com and there should be a link and this will send all the sttings to your phone so that way the t-zones will work and you have the right voicemail number..etc... i've done it once so i cant rememer how exactly i go to this part but its on my t-mobile.com, or you can just call customer service and they will be morethan happy to help you.

i hopethis helps a little, lol.

I have used unlocked phones on T-Mobile many times. I recently bought a Nokia 6200IM off of Ebay and I unlocked it myself. Nokia's website offers a page where you can send any carrier's settings to your nokia phone. All you do is put in your Nokia model number, carrier, and wireless number and they send you the t-zones and message settings. So if you are wanting to use an unlocked nokia on T-Mobile, it is very easy to do.

The only problem with using an unlocked phone is the warranty. If you have a problem with the phone t-mobile can't and won't help you.

Do you already have service or are you going to sign up for new service?

That's why I will only buy unlocked nokias. You never need a warranty with them because they are so durable! Plus if my 6200im broke, I could easily get another one for dirt cheap!
