I have heard that both cingular and t-mobile shared towers together but in they sold their old network cingular to t-mobile and cingular is now on att network. I was wondering is it true that they are allowed to use t-mobile newly acquired network for 4 years for like the aquistion. Because my friend has cingular and he gets the same reception as me. If this true then t-mobile is at a disadvantage in california cuz cingular can use both t-mobile and old att network. Someone plz comment on this topic.

To my knoledge, this is true. It is to help ease the transition to the new ATT towers. T-Mobile is getting paid for minutes Cingular customers use on the T-Mobile network.

Yep... Because a lot of the phones Cingular sold cust were 1900 only and the former att network cingular got there is 850 and will be gsm 850 in the whole state... so they are giving customers a little while to get new phones...

ATTWS used *both* 850 and 1900. ATTWS used 1900 in every market they served.
