T-Mobile is Now Gonna Start Buyin' Out Smaller Carriers?

I jus' gotta wonder who they gonna buy out, 'cus all the big regionals seem to be CDMA, which aint compatible with T-Mobile's network.

Biggest GSM regional I think is Dobson/CellOne, which is got only 1.6 million customers.

So T-M is gonna buy SEVERAL regional carriers then? Eat 'em up like Raisinettes? 🙂

They would really just need the towers. The actual RF frequencies are the same. It's all in the carrier signal modulation. CDMA or code division multiple access is just another way to modulate an RF carrier signal. The actual antenna and associated EIRP would be unchanged with the change in carrier signal, so they could do it at a relatively smaller fee than trying to buy the antennas, install them, get the land, buy the frequency, etc. Of course there are several small non-major regional carriers that may be GSM that they are looking at, but I don't pay a lot of attention to regional carriers. 🙂

But GSM an' CDMA modulate in very diff'rent ways. Time-division vs code-division. Some of the equipment must be different, right?

I mean, if it were all that easy, why is it always a long, hard, expensive process fo' two merging carriers to merge their networks, even when they're usin' the same technology? I hear Verizon wasn't real good 'til 3 years after their big merger. An' lookin' at Cingular an' how they're doin', its gonna be the same thing there.

anyway u look it at it this is good news in my book. How they do it is not really my concern. Go T-MO...Maybe now they will hire me as a field technician since they need more people... 😁

I knew Catherine-Zeta Jones was going to make a differnce...lol

lol, yeah she has helped T-mobile a lot. An' she definitely makes me weak in the knees. Hope they cast her as Wonder Woman in the upcomin' movie. Can u imagine what she'd do fo' that costume? đŸ˜ŗ

What I don' get is why she'd marry a senior citizen like Michael Douglas. Its not like it was fo' money.. she got a superphat wallet from all her movie parts I'm sure.

i think it is essential for tmobile usa to do anything possible to increase their subscribers and coverage especially buying a company that is already established in the marketplace.

yea, CZJ has helped, but other factors have also.. ie customer service, cheap plans etc, good brand etc.. but they need to improve on their coverage.

i am not sure why they told the public how much they are putting aside for spectrum purchases in June of 2006, becuase i think this will hurt them becuase 1. it is probably not enough to get a full nationwide footprint and 2. other carriers will know that they only have that amount of money so they can try to hurt tmobile that way..

(footprint of 3g spectrum and a data network of course)

here is a...

But wouldn't it be real funny if competitors thought that was all the money they would have or use because like you, they read the same news and have it turn out that they had more money available and it was just a faux to get competitors to under bid? I'm not saying they did that, but it would be kind of funny if that were to end up happening. 🙂

I doubt she will be the next Wonder Woman. It's the whole age issue. No doubt Catherine is hot, but in Hollywood, they will want a young new 20 something to play the role. Sucks, but it's true. ☚ī¸

Definitely does suck. CZJ is like 36 or somethin', but looks 30. When I picture WW, I think of someone who looks 30, not like a teenager or somethin' stupid like that. That's why they got Wonder GIRL as a whole diff'rent character. 🙂

But yeah, they'll probably go wit' Jessica Biel wit' a dye job or somethin' stupid like that. ☚ī¸

No suprise, its Hollywood an' they usually screw up stuff when they bring it to the big screen. 4 outta 5 superhero movies suck. Even easy chit from-TV adaptations they can't get right. Bewitched blew chunks, an' the Dukes of Hazzard movie sucked so bad that even Jessica Simpson in a bikini couldn't save it. Stifler an' Jonny Knoxville as the Dukes??

Retarded casting at its finest. No wait, that was Ben A...

Ya, ben as DD was a poor choice. Even Hugh Jackman as Wolvie didn't really fit. Wolvie is only supposed to be 5'2".

But Jackman is a very good actor, an' he's still kinda short and looks-wise is at least in the Wolvie ballpark.

Hard to find a lotta good Wolverine-looking actors who are 5' 2", I'd think. The guy who played Frodo wouldnta cut it.

True, Frodo wouldn't have made a good Wolvie and Hugh Jackman did a pretty good jub, but they could have done the same film trick with Hugh Jackman as they did with the Hobbits to make him look about 5'2". That would have worked. The other part the missed in the make up wardrobe thing was that Wolvie is real hairy. Hugh was clean shaved except for those cool side burns. 🙂

You're right! They coulda had a hairy 5'2" Jackman if they wanted to!

If only. It pays a lot better than I make now. 😁 Ironically, my neighbor owns a Hollywood casting company. Maybe I should ask him for a job... đŸ¤Ŗ

When and *if* you get out of high school you won't talk down "old pharts" like Michael Douglas. What have you done lately?

Oh, an' Mickey D is in his 60s, so callin' him old ain't a slam, its jus' a fact. CZJ coulda done better than swingin' by the old folks home.

It's really none of your dam'd business why she chose him instead of you whether it was for love, status or money. She happened to have a thing for him. She didn't happen to have a thing for you. That's the way it goes. You don't ask for anyone's opinions on the people you date, marry or care about. Neither does CZJ.

I'm jus' sayin' she can do better than Captain Viagra. I ain' the first to notice this neither.

Well ya know shocker I ain' gonna lose no sleep over who CZJ beds down with at night. Different strokes etc. We really don't need to be concerned with it since CZJ didn't solicit either your or my advice on who she should marry. And since your gf would give you a haircut with a buzzsaw if she even had a hint you had the hots for CZJ it's something you don't need to concern yourself with either.

DT said that T-Mobile is not going to merge or buy out any other carriers right now. Maybe in a few years. But now that Cingular is going back to the AT&T brand, I think T-Mobile should consider gobbling up a few regionals.

I think they should go take that 2 billion and buy as much spectrum in maybe the 2.5 range and dedicate that to UMTS/HSDPA. I can guarantee that Cingular and Verizon won't be poking around that auction. I think that would be cheaper and a better way for them to go.
