T-mobile network not that bad Thoughts About t-mobile network versus cingular network
I always hear people talking bad about t-mobile t-moible this and that but its not that bad. Better than sprint and nextel for sure. But in california and NY their network is alot better than cingular's network.

I find that hard to believe considering T-Mo's native network is not that much larger than Nextel's iDEN... T-Mo's saving grace is price-points, not coverage. Best prices per plan anywhere...

If you actually look at the real gsm coverage maps found at http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_u s.shtml cingular and tmobile are not much different. These maps are a lot easier to read then the one that cingular offers in it's brochures.

Those maps are incorrect. The Cingular map hasn't been updated since before the merge in 2004. Tell me, why do they still have AT&T and Cingular as seperate networks?
Honestly, if you want to get a better depiction of native coverage nationwide, look at a company's pre-paid maps. These maps show the native network coverage because pre-paid does not include roaming. You will see that the maps at GSMworld are definitely incorrect.
You have to remember that Cingular has the largest digital network in the U.S. You'll find that their native coverage is even larger than Verizon's. Again, see for yourself by looking at each company's pre-paid map.

Well in Arizona T Mobiles "native" network is leaps and bounds better than Cingulars and if you have a GSM 850 capable phone with you now get the exact same roaming coverage as Cingular provided by rural carriers. Win win for T Mobile customers here in Arizona.

I agree with GIREVIKS - In Arizona Cingular's network leaves needs alot of work. Tmobile works great here & is far superior to Cingy's, at least for now. 😁

Right next door in New Mexico, T-Mobile works in my home, Cingular doesn't. T-Mobile works in my brother's house, Cingular doesn't. Haven't done a comparison anywhere else. Figured I don't need to.

I'm as much of a T-Mobile booster as anyone else, but let's be fair here. Coverage indoors is all dependant on where the nearest base station is located. If you're on cingular and you have a near base station and T-Mobile doesn't cingular's going to win and vice versa. Wireless is always variable with different results depending on the individual locations.
