I'm thinking about getting a old style 8890 (a dual band phone) for use on tmobile. Any thoughts on how that would affect coverage in the US or europe having only dual band? I love this old style phone.. I would appreciate any thoughts.

Good luck getting a brand new one. I loved that phone more than any phone I ever used. Just let mine go a few months ago after 3yr of use. Works fine with t-mobile service.

the coverage you will have will be limited to the 1900mhz bandwidth. for decent view of what that coverage looks like check out t-mobile prepaid coverage. there is a little more than that but thats the ballpark your looking at.
