T-Mobile versus Cingular in Chicago: I did a personal test!

I personally tested the coverage of both GSM carriers in the fabulous city of Chicago where I live. I had a prepaid Cingular card that came with my nokia phone (which I unlocked to use with my T-Mobile service.) Well I ran out of whenever minutes this month so I decided to use up my Cingular prepaid time to last me to next month.

Cingular did not get signal in areas where I always had full signal strength with T-Mobile. In fact, in the lobby of my building I got no signal with Cingular, whereas with T-Mobile I always get 5 out of 7 bars!

So there you have it, solid proof that T-Mobile is better than Cingular in Chicago.

i conducted a very similar test, but i used one phone from every carrier available in gloucester county.

first i collected a statement from every cellular provider about coverage and extra services, and guess what t-mobile said,"you live a solid coverage area, you will never go out of service as long as you're out doors" (since that is what all coverage claims are based on) and guess who had the most dead spots OUTDOORS? t-mobile.

then i went out and drove around picking 5 places to make and recieve calls from in every town. and recorded clarity, signal strength, number of failed calls, number of blocked calls (incoming) and number of blocked calls.

if you're going to claim that t-mobile is better than cingular in Chicago, you w...

I have a friend who has T-Mobile prepaid, and lives in Lansing, Illinois. He goes into Chicago and for the downtown area that he travels, he complains about a lot of static and dropped calls. I have a co-worker who lives in Gary Indiana and has a contract with T-Mobile, and complains about spotty reception, and not being able to reach friends in Chicago on T-Mobile, because the neighborhood his friend lives has overloaded circuits at nearby towers. Chicago has been an example why they overall have poor reception. They had a network outage back in August because they can't keep up with the demand of usage. Cingular seems to do a better job in keeping up with demand in Chicago. No service is perfect, but it seems that Cingular & Verizon ...
