If you have no credit history and you want to get a Sidekick with just a data plan would you still have to pay a deposit even if your NOT using it for phone service? 😕

You'd probably have to pay a $70 act fee (or $35) and have a spending limit. But I do believe that there are special prepaid plans for Sidekick you may want to look into.

Totally get a Sidekick To Go plan. It is not that expensive ($1 per day I believe.) First, though, have your credit run and see if you qualify for Smart Access ($75 activation fee and $150 spending limit per month.) You will get the Sidekick cheaper that way.

Or better yet, don't get a Sidekick because they suck. Get a Blackberry.

I Agree. The Sidekick is a great idea and all but way too many problems. Black Berry would always beat a Sidekick in a cage fight.

Yeah, I just got into handling the data device support and I can't believe how many defective Sidekicks I get in a day. A defective Blackberry is much rarer. I'd wager I do more warranty exchanges on Sidekicks than any other phone or device combined (now that the v300/v180/cf62t are phasing out.)

Just get the prepaid plan. Its the same price cause its a $1 a day and the regular data plan is $30, so its the same. And there is no contract or activation fees with the prepaid plan.

dont get the prepaid plan. run your credit through, you never know. Im 18 and I have no credit card or bills or anything under my name and I got approved for 2 lines no deposit. My friend is the same as above, and got approved for 5 lines. If you end up going with a Smart Access acount, the phone price will jump up, but its better then prepaid....
