😳 I am sure you all may have run across these few news articles earlier at some point. At any rate, please read (ore-read as applicable) and let me in on what you all out there think of the slim chances that RIMM BB will survive throughout this whole catastrophe.

🙄 I am beginning to think that RIMM's alternative technology will be known as the Blackenedberry after the outcome of this case (particularly if they do not release on time to save their tails).

☹️ that stinks for bb users.. The supreme court sending this case back to the lower courts is somewhat a slap in the face too. I hope RIM figures out a way to keep theyre product users happy through this situation.. Id be jumping ship right bouts now 😡

Yea, I think rimm would survive from this because the patent office already dismissed all claims from NTP. The courts seem not to be in favor of this but we shall see. Worse comes to worst Rimm buys them out or gives them a settlement they wouldn’t refuse. If there is an injunction to be enforced, NTP would NOT get paid for anything and obviously NTP wants to get paid so I think it will be stupid to do this. I think forcing the injunction will just make RIMM settle, however, Rimm has many arguments in their favor with regards to the blackberry that might help them in this case. If there is an injunction, it will also be a 30-90 day period for people to switch to other means of communication.

I don’t think this is a big deal and that ri...

Thanks! I am the original poster btw.

What really has been giving me heartburn on this whole thing is I just purchased one in Nov 2005 particularly since I am a travelling Software IT Consultant. I have 2 work addresses and my BB address coming here (have the 7105T by the way.) I can't tell you the nightmare it'd be if this goes from Black to Blackened! I am just like the vloume of customers you must be having who call on this issue daily.......

that seem viable.

but even if NTP doesnt bring them down their SHAREHOLDERS 😳 will.

you know there will be some angry folks that RIM will have to kiss up to but it still wont work.

Just what exactly are you trying to say? If this thing becomes settles then what are the shareholders going to do? On the otherhand, if it isn't then yes, I could see the anger and aggression of the Shareholders and quite like the users too.

Listen, the shareholders aren't going to do ****!! They have made a fortune off this company. RIM has the option to pay 5.7% (the original amount awarded) to the small virginia company. This is roughly $200 million dollars. RIM has enough money to stay in the game and with more than 3 million users, this problem will be worked out. Just wait and see!!! 😁

Listen sister, I am praying that you are right and if you, I'll be really happy. I am not flaming anyone, just want the resolution to be anything other than a fkin shut down.

I am a shareholder of RIMM and yea I agree with the poster and we had made a fortune but now it can all be going down the drain if they don’t settle because USA is their biggest market, which accounts for more then 75% of their revenue and business. I have been selling some stock but that is besides the point and I buy more when there is bad news. Etc. (I wont get into that now )

But yea, I also think that this will be a none event and it will settle because NTP isn’t stupid to wish an injunction because if RIMM doesn’t sell any blackberry that means NTP doesn’t see/get a dime. Remember, RIMM also claimed they have a workaround technology just in case the injunction would stand which is said to go around NTP’s patents. However, RIMM a...

Well I did quite well with that whole Nextel partners and sprint/Nextel situation because I have invested in that stock in the single digits. So overall, I did a great job. (and same with the sprint buying out Nextel. (I had their stock too I mean Nextel’s, and now I have sprint’s and others too.)

Besides that, yes I was happy with the overall situation but I actually wanted $31 per share instead of the $28.50 but oh well, we shareholders cant always have our way all the time, but being a shareholder of a company is great.

Overall, I did well.

then this will also open up the market for various other push email companies.

whats even more wrong is half the BB owners don't even know what going on. i cant tell you how many people i had to explain this to and prove this to. then there are folks that are stuck up and dont even want to hear it. for that reason i HOPE BB goes down. but atleast they could have warned BB owners or had the carries warn the BB owners of the injunction.

yea the price of a BB is lowered but when you tell why folks are shocked.

lol...

well there are other companies that are doing push email but NTP is suing them also. (remember the latest with msft and ntp's partner?)

nothing will happen anyway.. NTP isnt that stupid to lose out revenue plus a nice settlement and rimm isnt that stupid to let their 5+ million subscribers to be gone and more then 76 percent of their revenue to be gone.. (united states is responsible for 76% of their revenue)
