why bother to buy an International Phone?

There are so many folks asking about phones that are tri & quad bands and work internationally.... why bother?

It's a huge ripoff to bring your TMO phone with you overseas. Even if you don't answer your phone, you get whacked for call DELIVERY and then AGAIN if you let the call go to voicemail (charge to send back to USA). In Europe that's 1.98/min (.99 x 2)!!! In Greece it's $2.98/min ($1.49 x 2) even Canada is crazy at $.98/min (.49 x 2)...

If you complain TMO reps advise to turn your phone OFF to avoid roaming or use unconditional call forward, but why buy an Int'l phone then?

(And in Europe TMO is a huge network, you'd think the company could offer it's USA & EURO divisions a deal?)

YOU DONT HAVE TO USE TMOBILE SERVICE, IF YOU WANT YOU CAN UNLOCK THE PHONE AND USE WITH LOCAL PROVIDERS OF THE COUNTRY THAT YOU ARE IN, WHERE EVER YOU ARE, OR OTHER SERVICE PROVIDERS IN THE US.

If you buy a T-Mobile phone, you have to have it unlocked by T-Mobile BEFORE going overseas. The local service provider doesn't unlock the phones for if they did, they would be liable if they broke the phones.

thats the main reason unlocked phones sell so much. I brought my razor there over the summer and was using comsote(cell service in greece) with no problems.
