I just moved from San Francisco down to LA last summer. I was up there for about 3 years and had T-mobile the entire time and didn't really have any major coverage issues. There's the occasional, random void, but I think every carrier has that. As for Wifi, I didn't use it much so I wouldn't know directly off hand though I can tell you their are quite a few Starbucks in San Francisco, if that helps at all.

Why are you movingto San Francisco and where from?

T-mobile, inside the city has pretty solid coverage. Their prices are probably some of the best around. I don't really know anyone who uses Sprint so I can't comment on them. Cingular probably has slightly better coverage in the city (more so noticable intheeast bay, but even there it's pretty solid) , but they're also more expensive.

I know people who had the sidekick and loved it. I haven't dealt with the MDA at all. I have a Treo myself, which I love and prefer Palm OS over Windows, but I also use a mac and Palm seems to be a little more compatable.

Where are you going to school at? I was a film student at the Academy of Art while I was up there.

I honestly don't know how the coverage is there specifically. I lived in SOMA, I worked near Union Square and my school was in the financial district, so I was downtown the majority of the time, but I did have a car and drove around a bit and never really was without coverage except for out by the beach, but barely anyone had coverage there.

There's this thing, called the PCC...the personal coverage check. It gives you street level maps of coverage for whatever addresses you put in. They even have it on their website.
