My daddy is a minute nazi!
Well, my step-mom talks on her phone like a million hours a day. I'm getting really tired of my daddy complaining because I use like 200 daytime minutes a month. Big effing deal.
Anyway, so I just recently turned 18, and got my first job. Considering my father pays for my tuition and my car and I have nothing better to spend my money on than shoes, why not get my own phone plan? The thing is I really want to keep T-mobile and my Sidekick. I obviously have no established credit to speak of.

WHEN I HAD JUST TURNED 18 AND HAD NO CREDIT TO SPEAK OF, MY DEPOSIT FOR TMOBILE WAS ONLY 75, A LOT LESS THAN OTHER CARRIERS, BUT NONREFUNDABLE.

You have Smartaccess. Smartaccess is always $75 if you qualify. Regular deposits can be anywhere from $200 to $500 or not being offered monthly service at all. It all depends.
You cant have sidekick service on a Smart Access account however, as the internet features are not available. You can use it as a phone, but you would not have any access to any of the internet features (such as email, web browsing, downloads, etc).
There is a new credit class where you can be approved for one line with a $250 deposit, and you can opt for this instead of the Smart Access account. If you have no credit and still want to use the internet features on your sidekick, this would be the way to go.

That is a dumb suggestion because he/she will be paying way more for minutes....
Minutes can be as cheap as 10 cents/minute if you buy the $100 refill.

still not as cheap as .03 cents per minute like I have... π... but I see your point... however that means they would have to purchase such large denominations to get that rate...
Well, you sometimes have to do what you have to do. If you can't get monthly billed service you have to see what your other options are. Prepaid is usually not a good deal if you talk a lot or more that 300 minutes a month.

just change your plan to an individual one instead of a family plan. keep it under youd dad and add yourself as an authorized user.
If she hasn't had any credit she may not be offered a monthly plan without being either a Smartaccess subscriber or paying a large deposit.
I suggest asking your father to break you off the family plan and on to your own single line plan still under his name. You would have more minutes, you'd still be able to use your sidekick, and when you do establish credit you can get it put in your name.
