Calling all T-mobile reps: a series of questions (long)
I live in the northern Indiana area (South Bend Metro area). In the past 1 1/2 months, I' a former Centennial Wireless customer (great coverage here, terrible cust. service & services). I've tried Cingular, Sprint, Verizon, T-mobile & I'm currently with U.S. Cellular, but would like to switch back to T-mo. I didn't stick it out w/ them because of the AIM issue and absolutely HORRIBLE in-store customer service, of which I'm still fighting to get my refund on the phone I purchased (if anyone can apply pressure to a non-corporate store to expedite this, please let me know).
My dilemma:
1) I'm looking for a phone that has an mp3 player, takes adequate pics, has Bluetooth & has a very user friendly text message interface with t9 AND AIM with t9. I've used a Motorola v360 & v710... I despise the 710 & the v360 would only log onto AIM about 9 out of 10 tries. Either way, the interface all motorolas use is terrible (in my opinion) and the t9 doesn't work, from what I can ascertain, with AIM.
I've had several phones in the past 1 1/2 & quite honestly, the VGA phones seem to take the best pictures. Mega pix phones are too dark (even with supplied, onboard lighting) & if you move the slightest bit, the pic is completely out of focus.
The phones that I loved were my Sony Ericsson t637 bar style phone, but alas, the carrier offered no internet services without a cost prohibitive plan & phone upgrade. I used the Sony E. W600i & it was great (although bulky), but it was with Cingular & they haven't done any tower upgrades to actual Cingular towers in our area and reception at my home was minimal.
I've read through pages & pages of all your questions and comments & there are some very knowledgeable people on this forum. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'd like to use the wap AIM if the unlimited texting is no longer available in my area (haven't checked in the past few days), so the phone would need to be able to do that, as well.
2) I just missed the 1500 anytime minutes sale that expired on April 16 and so tried U.S. Cellular. Is there any way that T-mo online will add a new customer to this plan? I would definitely be buying my phone through somewhere like wirefly.com or one of the others advertised as I will NOT go to another T-mo store in this area (plus the deals are better online). Any help with this area would be welcomed, too.
I've heard a lot of you say that Nokia or Samsung are the way to go, but I have no way of trying any of these phones before purchase. What do you suggest given the criteria mentioned above?
I'm certain I'm leaving something out; but perhaps we can get a dialogue started and I'll remember further questions.
Thanks for the time, everyone. Enjoy your day.
ps. stay away from wirefly.com, that site is very tricky in the way they run stuff, also, try tmobile.com or try calling tmobile yourself and activating, goodluck
I think the SAMSUNG 809 is garbage.
We are backed with the greatest customer care in the world.

i think everyone else has you covered as far as phones go, though i do agree that samsung or nokia is the way to go 🙂
Other than the MDA, I'd say you'd be waiting for the Nokia 8801 to come out.
Also, I agree with most everyone else when they said stay away from internet sites like wirefly. Most are based in California, where they do not have to inform you at the time of sale that the phone is refurbished. That is the most likely reason that the phones are so cheap.
