T-mobile customer moving to Hong Kong w/ p910a

So I have a couple of questions...

#1 I have an unlocked Sony P910a (850 / 1800 / 1900) that I bought thinking the 850 band would be helpful in the states...turns out much of HK uses the 900 / 1900 so I may be hosed. I love the phone but am afraid it will be a paper weight overseas. Any suggestions? Able to trade a 910a for an i? Any takers!?

My current plan is to get a a quad band phone with an HK sim card and convert my T-mo account to pay as you talk since it will only be used when I am state side. Unfortunately, I've heard handsets are REALLY expensive there (like $600+ US) so the thought of shelling out another chunk for an unlocked phone hurts a bit.

I am due a handset upgrade (3 yr customer and haven't upgraded through...

When you upgrade your phone, it does not come unlocked. However, as long as you have been in service for 90+ days (or it has been 90+ days since you last requested a SIM unlock code), you can request to have the phone unlocked. We basically process the info and you get an unlock code within 1-3 days.

As far as breaking the contract goes, as long as you can fax in proof that you are moving overseas (ie: rental/housing agreement, a bill showing your/her name and new address, drivers license w/ new address, some sort of legal documentation, etc) then we can waive the early termination fee. If you dont have anything like that to fax in, unfortunately you will have to eat the ETF or stay in service until the contract ends.

Thanks. I'll stop by a local T-mo store armed with this info. Otherwise I just seem to get the "I don't know" face / answer. Though T-mo is definitely better than most about trying to figure things out.
