See I don't think that is a good reason to switch. We sell phones with mp3 players and I'd much rather just transfer mp3s from my computer to my phone. Screw purchasing them and downloading them to my phone. It's just a way for you to spend more money.
And as for videos and clips of tv shows...eh...I have DVR.
But that's just me. I'd rather pay less money than have a bunch of crap features I won't use.

I get your point. Another reason I am not sure if I want to switch is because of the great plan I have with T-Mobile. The thing is I've been seeing a lot of really nice phones that are planned for Verizon and being the phone junkie that I am it makes it a hard choice for me.....

if you're looking for really nice phones check out the Nokia 8801 that is coming out with us. The Nokia rep showed it to me and it is hot!

The other price problem with Verizon is that in additional to your more expensive/less minute rate plan, Vcast features are an additional cost. Verizon is only really cost effective if everyone you know is with them as well.

Ok bro. Let me give you some advise since you gave me some input in my questions on other things. I currently have Verizon and I am switching to T-Mobile in June when my contract ends because it's too expensive. You pay $59.99 plus tax and if you want that EV-DO download thing it's an extra $15 bucks a month and the taxes are a b**ch. I'm going for the most bang for my buck that's why I'm going to T-Mobile. I have a friend who pays for all those services and never uses tham anyway. It's money wasted. Just my 2 cents for you buddy.

I'm definitely Thinking of Switching. Even though I like Tmobile and their great customer service, I am not getting good signal anymore. I have called Tmobile several times about this issue and they keep saying we are upgrading all the time, but I am just not seeing it, or hearing it for that matter. I probably get disconnected because of loss of signal on 50% of the calls I make and receive at my home. That is just not acceptable for me.

I don't really have a problem with dropped calls. T-Mobile added over 75 cell sites in 2005 in my area. The main reason I'm thinking of switching is because I feel CDMA is the better technology at this point.

The advantage of CDMA is a lower upgrade curve for 3g meaning cdma companies can implement data throughput upgrades more quickly. However the voice quality of GSM is far superior to CDMA which is why it is the world standard. In addition Verizon has flat lined on there ability to improve the network which is why year over year T-Mobile continues to make larger percentage gains in coverage and call quality achieving the over all call quality award from JD Power in 2006 which Verizon had previously held every year since the award was created.

Verizon spent more money on advertising dollars then any other company in the United States not just among wireless carriers. Cingular was number 2 and sprint number 6. T-Mobile was 26th on the list. ...

Actually, Verizon music phones have memory slots for the most part and this does allow you to transfer music to the memory card and play it in your phone. From what I understand, GSM should sound better in theory, but in the Seattle area, Sprint and Verizon sound good, TMO mediocre and Cingular aweful. By the way do you have a link to the advertising stuff? I've heard the numbers but I wanted something I could show my customers.

To the OP, I dislike Verizon. I think their CS has gone downhill in the last two years, TMOs has stayed strong. I think they also have the most brainwashed customers and that in a lot of areas their network is lagging behind what people perceive it to be and where the competition is at. I can't tell you ho...

Well, let me say this about that. I have Verizon (Razr) and and tMobile (Blackberry 7105t) and yes, Verizon does have better cell service, but, the battery life on my Verizon phone is awful compared to my tMobile.

As for EVDO, personally, I don't want it. I also don't want a camera, music or anything else other than bluetooth for my headset. Why? I believe that this all contributes to the diminished battery life on Verizon's phones.

Depending on where you live, work and mainly travel, Verizon is a GREAT choice in most,...

Hi, it's funny- I'm a Verizon customer that's been flirting with T-Mobile. I've decided to stay with Verizon for now. Let me summarize some things that may help you:

1) Verizon has hands-down the largest network out there- if you travel in any rural areas at all you will notice a tremendous difference in your signal availability and strength with Verizon. It can't be matched. Period.

2) Verizon will charge you airtime for the time you spend using data. Many people don't think to ask about this because to my knowledge, Verizon is the only carrier that does this. So unless you plan to do your data on the weekends, you will probably need a plan with more minutes. (This may not be true for 'internet' plans, I know Mobile Web usage i...

Are you sure that T-Mobile doesn't offer corporate discounts? 😉

On reason to not leave TMobile for Verizon is the very annoying crippling of Bluetooth on all Verizon phones. Forget about ever transfering files from your phone to your computer. This includes syncing certain applications with the phone (address book information for example).

Golly gee, did I miss something? 😲

I work for a very large organization and we have mutiple contracts: Nextel and Cingular give us 15% off, Verizon gives us 18% but when I called T-Mo and asked about it, the rep said the T-Mo employees themselves don't even get employee discounts and he didn't know of any such corporate offers- the discounts are built into the price plans.

If I heard wrong about the corporate discounts please let me know because my contract is up on the 27th and I still haven't made up my mind which way I'm going (I just LOVE the t-509...)!!

Rep didn't know what they are talking about. There are hundreds of companies t-mobile is partnered with that offer discounts. In addition employees of the Federal government also qualify for discounts.

Some call centers are third party and are not direct T-Mobile employess so they would have different criteria for a discount.

When you load the Cingualr homepage, there is a link right up front where you enter your email to see if you are eligible for a discount. Verizon has the same.

I didn't call the call center- I called a T-Mobile store. (I called two stores actually.) The first store said no discounts, no way. The second said they'd have to look into it and get back to me but never did.

Everyone I have talked to so far at T-Mo has been very friendly but has given me incomplete or conflicting information. (I'm not complaining here- Verizon gives you incomplete and conflicting infromation with much less friendly customer service....)

But I think if these plans and terms were simpler it would be easier for everyone to decide what is best for the...

hmmm... if I follow your link: tmobile.com/corpdiscounts I get a 404 error. Also, if I type "corporate discounts" into the T-Mo website I get nothing.

I was also actually told by one of the reps that the $20/month internet add-on was still available (internet, not limited mobile web) and it even included 300 messages too, but just when I was about to switch, he realized they had just ended that promotion. So now it's $30 for the internet and an extra $5 for the messaging.

T-Mobile does allow you to switch your plan at any time; promotional plans require a one year contract extension.

T-Mobile also does have corporate and military discounts. You need to go to www.t-mobile.com/corpdiscount and fill out the info, and then the discount will be applied to your bill. What you get depends on which company you work for.

It only matters what a person is willing to pay. Yeah Verizon might have a better coverage and service but if you think that paying 39.99 for 450 vs 39.99 for 600 then it truly is more bang for your buck. The phone should not be something super expensive. Besides there are no free phones for Verizon but there are for TMobile. So like I said, it's only about what a person wants to pay but getting more for your dollar sounds better to me.

Ok first off, I'm a rep for T-Mobile so here's some info. T-Mobile doesn't have the best service, yet, but if you go on to t-mobile.com you can get a street level coverage check for the places you're going to use the phone the most. The darker the green the better.

If you go on to Verizon's site and look at their map they have almost all of the same problem areas that we have except they can ping other carriers towers that use the same system they do which is practically everybody else on the market. Since T-Mobile is GSM it's a tad bit harder to ping a tower from another carrier when no one else uses our system.

Although because we're GSM we have better international roaming capabilities then most companies. So you can get service i...

Important notes about Verizons coverage:

The analog roaming areas of verizon will be shut down per Goverment order in 2007. Many phones on Verizon already are digital only so they already don't have access to Verizons full coverage.

T-Mobiles network footprint is 5% less in square miles than Verizons.

Fiscal year 2006 network expansion expenditures are budgetd for 2.2 Billion

Fiscal Year 2005 was 2.1 Billion.

The total amount of towers built in 05 was 3400, for 06 3700.

Specificaly Verizon's coverage is superior in almost exclusively rural markets. If you live in one of those markets than verizon would be a good choice.

Lastly Personal Coverage Check. You can examine any location in America to check coverage. Its not j...

Your comparison sucks!

How's this for comparison

VZW
You have to pay 59.99 for 900 minutes and n/w and IN-calling on Verizon!

TMO
You get 1500 minutes PLUS n/w for the same price on TMO.

TMO
TMO offers an in-between plan of 1000 minutes for 49.99 plus n/w.

TMO
They actually had a promotion for 1500 mins for 49.99 PLUS n/w... YOU CANT BEAT THAT!!!

VZW
You pay 79.99 and still only get 1350 mins.

****Its better to pay 59.99 + 6.99 with TMO where you get 1500 mins than to pay 79.99 plus tax on VZW and still get less anytime MINS (1350mins).***

TMO is also going to be rolling out a program similar to ALLTEL where you can call a select number of friends and family UNLIMITED.
