Prepaid phone choice
1) Can I buy a Nokia 6010 (target 40$ + 60 min) and switch the SIM card in a phone that I buy on ebay (as long as it`s a GSM phone, previously used on T-Mobile)?
2) Can I buy a phone on ebay (as above) and just get a SIM card + then activate a prepaid plan? Where I would go for card and activation?
3) If I understood, I can also get any GSM phone and have it unlocked ... then switch the card ... true ?
Thank you for your help
You will be paying much more for your minutes by going prepaid. Prepaid costs roughly $.19 cents per minute when you buy 150 minutes, as you say you use. Postpaid (contract) service is only $.009 cents per minute for 3,180 minutes ($29.99 Basic Plus plan: 300 weekday Monday-Friday; 2,880 weekend: 24 hrs * 60 minutes per hour * 2 days). Not to mention, you get the unlimited weekends, 300 weekday, and access to T-Mobiles Roaming coverage AND a better selection of phones. Who cares about the contract, right? Go postpaid my friend. 😉
I got 2 year experience with a cell phone. I know the usage I do with it and it's never been more than 150 minutes per month. Just looking at the $ per minute is totaly wrong ... you have to look at your needs (number of minute + when you use the phone) and look cost overall for the year.
So I will stick with prepaid my friend 😁
Thank you for your opinion.

Do you *really* think anyone gets on the phone at 12 midnight Friday and talks constantly til 11:59 pm Sunday night?
Not all GSM phones work to their full capacity when they are unlocked and a sim is put in. You may miss out of some features, but hey if it's the phone you want go for it.

Care to tell us what features don't work when you use an unlocked handset? AFAIK all features will work but you may need to access them differently or you may need to have the settings sent to you OTA.
you CAN buy any phone as long as it is t-mobile usa, or unlocked for GSM.
advice is to get a nokia, they are easier to send OTA for carrier specific features (t-zones, mms, etc.)
or check out Flexpay. a little easier to manage, but prepaid is great since you do not use many minutes. You do, however, get less coverage... which most people wouldn't be affected by, unless you like to wonder in the forest or desert.
