Real world EDGE Speeds?
I have a need/want for wireless data access. I don't use it enough to go with one of the other carriers but I find GPRS painful and slow. How much different is EDGE in terms of speed (real world) over GPRS?

It's kind of like dial-up vs super speedy dial-up. Rather then 40kbps it's more like 170kbps, that's if you are close to an EDGE area. Not all areas that T-Mobile has coverage has EDGE yet. You can ask a rep to check for you if where you live has EDGE yet. If they won't then go to another store or call customer care some reps don't know where to look so they'll tell you they can't.

Cool... thanks... 170kbps is enough (yes I would want more). But I would be happy with ISDN/IDSL speeds for now. The 30-40kbps is just killing me.

when i played with it mine connected arround 170kbps but the actually average transfer speed was arround 70kbps, but keep in mind dial up that connects arround 40kbps usually has a transfer speed arround 14kbps.
