T-Mobile Blackberry 8700g ..........Excellent Phone
The phone eventually arrived, and without any request on my part, T-Mobile voluntarily waived the shipping charges and credited my firm's account with 200 free minutes. Obviously, my preference would have been to receive the phone in a timely manner, but T-Mobile has been very accommodating since the Blackberry has been delivered.
The phone is excellent. The coverage is phenomenal, and the Edge network is vastly superior to my older Blackberry. I have had no dropped calls in the Dallas area and the communication quality has been perfect. ...

In all fairness since I had significant complaints about the customer service and the delay in obtaining my ordered phone I wanted to comment on the product once I received it from T-Mobile.

Your story sounds way too familiar. I feel your pain and frustration. Once again, what should have been an easy transaction became a pre-purchase customer service nightmare. I won't beat a dead horse, but I was really given the run-around. I don't know if the problems were due to the customer service misrepresentations or just lack of organization/communication between T-Mobile and their warehouse and direct stores.
In any event, my original phone was a 7290 (I think...it had the blue case). I used it almost strictly for email purposes, because the web browser portion was so slow. due to living a ways away from a t-mobile store
due to personal schedule - AKA too busy to make it in to a store
or for smart access accounts, because you can order a phone online without making a payment by credit card (have heard call center rumors that this doesn't work any more)
otherwise you will ALWAYS receive the phone faster by going into a store and purchasing it there.
Good point about the distance issue. I guess it's something I take for granted living in the Dallas area.
BUT
the voice quality is notoriously bad on these specific models (t-mobiles as well) in fact, laptop magazine did an article on the phone saying it was perfect but they expirienced muffled calls and troubles with quality.
and they used the t-mobile version in the tests
I still love it though, but damn you t-moible
