A New Carrier Question

Hey I have an idea just tell me what you all think. If I am currently with T mobile hence the post on the T mobile website. But like many I get hit with a pretty good size of overages every month. Now, tell me what you all think about this.

If I had a carrier that offered many plans, for the sake of this example 4. Now my plan would include something like:

monthly anytime Night/wk Mobile to
cost Minutes Minutes Moobile
39.99 400 Unlim Unlim
59.99 800 Unlim Unlim
79.99 1200 Unlim Unlim
99.99 1900 Unlim Unlim

Now here is the catch unlike other carriers that charge you overages, this plan "flex" to the closest plan. So everyone starts at the 39.99 unless their wishes to start higher. As they use their mins, when they went over they would just get bumped into the next bracket (59.99). This would give them 400 more mins to work with, without the 35 cents a min + everyone knows that the cheaper the plan is the more expensive the overages are. So this pattern would continue until you reach the final plan of 99.99.

Tell me what you think?

This was done before... Was it VZW or Sprint. I know it was one of them two. It was not even a day after BSM/Cingy announced rollover mins...

I think you're kind of late. Sprint has a plan that very, very similar and the cost is less than your example. Its called the fair and flexable plan. Good idea, but somebody got it first 😉

Sprint did come out with the Fair and Flexible rate plans but it's not as good of a deal as you might think. Keep in mind Sprint still needs to make a profit and a large part of that comes from customers exceeding their minutes. Go to www.sprintpcs.com and review those rate plans, compare them to other carriers and you'll see they're not as good.

It's a nice idea that Sprint is already using, just in a bit different way. Sprint says 39.99 for 400 minutes, and overage is in blocks of $5 for every 50 minutes over. So if you use 440 minutes you pay $5 extra or if you use 401 minutes, you pay $5 extra. In the same aspect, on your plan, someone accedently goes over by 5 minutes, they are automatically bumped up to the 59.99 plan, so they just payed $20 for going 5 min over.

Easiest way to stop overages is to get a plan that fits your needs. If you talk 800 minutes a month, don't get a 400 min plan.
