I know t-mobile is testing GSM/WiFi phones, is there any news on a nationwide launch? Would switch to t-mobile for that

Sounds like you are new to T-Mobile from the nature of your post. In the event you are not aware, they do have 2 Wi-Fi Enabled Smartphones out there -- The T-Mobile SDA and MDA. Both are really good phones in their own right. I purchased the SDA for my wife.
