I am currently a T-mobile customer and have been for the past 3-4 years. I used to work in a call center doing customer service work and after I quit I just migrated to consumer plan w/out having to sign a contract, so I just decided to stay w/ them. After one upgrade last may my contract is now expired and my phone recently broke in July. I am now forced w/ trying to decide to stay w/ T-mobile, even though I am not very happy w/ some of their coverage area; or switch to the largest network VZ. True T-mobile has the best plan prices and customer service; but do plan prices really matter if reception is bad? Also customer service is great, but after I worked for them I do see how shady they really are; and does kissing you A** over getting ...

Actually, Cingular has the largest (and fastest) network. Verizon (CDMA) RAZR phone has poor battery talk time, and it's bluetooth is crippled.

If reception/coverage is bad, then I would say you should switch hands-down. That is the overriding factor, all else being equal. That, and these days it's worth considering what companies your friends/business/etc. use as the one with the best coverage AND the most useful unlimited in-network calling should be the best for you. Just my 2c.

Well the reception isn't that bad. There are a few areas around my house and surrounding areas where there are gaps in coverage. It is bearable however, just at times frustrating. As far as all my friends/family they are sporadically spread out through the carriers. No one really has a predominant carrier, so the unlimited IN doesn't appeal to me as much as the network. My family lives in the stix, Tmobile does get somewhat good reception down there but mainly around the interstate. My family also owns a condo on the beach in PCB, which I have heard is mostly a sprint/nextel area. I would have to go outside and walk onto the beach some to get reception there. Since you have to sign a 2 year contract then I want to be able to use my phone ...

Yeah...um...I wouldn't go with cingular. I work for their outsourcing doing wsc and t2. Talk about shady people. T-mobile may have the best customer service, but if the network is bad and not right for you switch. Um...I currently have alltel, they're a great company and their plan rates are about the same as t-mobile (if not exactly). Unlimited roaming and long distance with a nationwide plan and free m2m. They do have the razr and working for cingular as well as having friends at t-mobile's t2, alltel's razr is the best I've seen. I'm getting ready to switch to t-mobile when my contract is up, but that's because they're pricing for data devices is cheaper. Although that's also because alltel is so new to those. Good Luck! 😉

Thanks for you feedback. I have not researched all tell in my market. True T-mobile's customer service is awesome, but realistically I never call them, so that really that important to me as good quality phones and strong signal strength. T-mobile does have the best pricing plans around, and the phones aren't that bad. That is why I am so indecisive. I hate that its a 2yr contract. When I worked @ T-mobile, they prided themselves on not having 2yr contracts and said they never would. hmmm.. Seems that everyone has those now. That is why I am leary. However I know it will either be Tmobile or VZ. I have also been looking at that new unreleased LG phone VZ is preview. It is LG version of a razor. I haven't ever had an LG but everyone that I kn...

I would really stay away from LG phones. It does seem that they have gotten better over the last year or so, but no one I have ever known with an LG phone had it for more than a few months. Not by choice, the things would just go out. They never could hold a signal either.

my best advice would be to go to cingular cause it uses the same gsm network at t-mobile, so u can roam to a t-mobile tower (no roaming charges), and get a larger coverage, as far as phone LG had a bad track record but they have improved alot, otherwise i'd go with samsung or nokia (and they're plans are cheaper than verizon)

I agree with going with a samsung or nokia, but I wouldn't switch to Cingular. If the coverage isn't working for you, Verizon will be your best alternative.

Everyone seems to be agreeing w/ either Cingular/VZ. No one has mentioned Sprint lol. Which unbelievably I have friends who have them and they have picked up in areas where no one else will. However I do know you call some 3rd world country for your customer service. I am also wondering what will happen to T-mobile and how much they will grow since they just bought a ton of liscenses

I have a friend who has cingular and I hate talking to him b/c sometimes during the conversation it will be a quick static fuzz that will cut out the call. It sound as if you were on standby on a walkie talkie. He is the only friend that Ihave that has cingular and the only one that I experience that one w/. I used to have a samsung, it was ok. I am actually using a friends right now till I decide on what I want to do. The phone I had was a Motorola V330. At first Ididn't like it because I was used to the Samsung. Eventually I got used to the Motorola, and now prefer its menu functions and button size over the Samsung. I don't like Nokia's b/c I like a clamshell phone.

I'm with luguy about the LG thing. They do crap out about right around 9 months. I've had a couple and so has a friend of mine and they always seem to go out at 9 months, it's amazing! I always recommend samsungs if people like them, nokias are reliable phones, but it does depend on your preference. The thing with VZ is they don't really care about their customers the way other companies do. Check out alltel and see how the coverage is. They don't always have the "up-to-date" phones (sometimes they do), but I've noticed lately they've been trying to get newer ones.

I left US Cellular and went to Verizon, then left them for T-Mobile. In my experience Verizon has a fantastic network, however, they nickel and dime you death. They even go so far as to cripple their phones to force you to use their pay for services. When I complained to the Verizon rep about the crippled phones, I was told he couldn't do anything about it and if I didn't like it I could leave. So I did. I first signed up for a year with T-mobile, and recently resigned for another two year contract. But I don't have any reception problems. I started with the Razor and went to the SDA.
