Q3 estimate for T-mobile

I believe that post-paid subscriber growth may have modestly improved at T-Mobile during Q3. I would expect net adds to be up on a sequential basis from the 613K the company reported in Q2. As a reminder, Q2 results were somewhat weak as a result of the introduction of two-year contracts in the beginning of Q2 (April 2006). Roughly, 70% of the T-Mobile store reps I spoke indicated store traffic was better than expectations. This compares favorable to the average of about 30% in the past eight surveys. While I do not expect T-Mobile to post as strong a growth as seen in Q1 2006 (1.04 MM net adds), based on these findings, I believe there is a good chance T-Mobile may beat Street consensus net add estimates for Q3 of roughly 744K. T-Mobile ha...

T-Mobile started 2yr contracts last fall and that isn't the reason for the low sales results in Q2.

"The company's CEO explained the introduction of the two-year service agreement resulted in lower net addition growth in April due to the transition."

That's what he said publicly but I have seen many accounts on two year contracts as early as September of last year. Maybe 2 yr contracts was on a trial run in some markets and that's why I've seen that.

For example, I just saw an account today that renewed a contract for two years on 12/28/2005. I'll admit I was probably wrong about my previous post but T-Mobile did start two yr contracts last year.

Lol; lancekalzas is trying to attack my checks and my analysis when the majority of the time they are 99% accurate.

Quite funny.

Definitely not but I listen to these calls and look at these accounts, I've seen two or three in the past week that renewed their contract for 2 years last fall or winter with their contract ending next year in the fall or winter. No doubt you're right with the press release but, like always, T-Mobile will test something in a few markets before nationally releasing it.

I was actually being funny when I said that because it is very hard to go against my sources and my opinions, although, sometimes my estimates are off, which is ok because I do not quite mind. I always post after they report of something going against my estimates.

I think it was when they formally introduced it nationwide (the 2 year plans).

it is very, very easy to go against your opinions because they are almost always ludicrous.

Q3 should be OK (1meg I guess), but 4Q will be a lot better
myfaves and BNP will attract more customers
BNP=Business National Plan, you'll exchange free nights for free m2m and 500 SMS (except $29.99, which has 300 m2m and 100 SMS)
