Have had T-Mobile for years, from when they were voicestream. I have only considered changing recently. Now that Cell phones are so prevalent it's easy to compare service. I LOVE T-mobile true nation wide service, NEVER once have I paid a cent more on my bill when calling while in Florida or Hawaii and I live in Oregon....BUT, I can go into a local "box" store and can not get one bar yet people around me are chatting away as they are strolling the isles. I was at the area hospital and couldn't get one bit of service unless I was right by a window while my sister in law was in the internal lobby having a conversation and she is from the other side of Oregon. Q...do I just have a crappy phone or does T-Mobile just not that great for signal str...

Been there. I know the coverage area, heck I've had the service for up wards of 9 years. That's not the point. My question more or less is is there better phones than others that have better receivers or is it truly the service?

Which handset you have does make a difference. Some have better antennas than others, some manufacturers are better than others, etc. What handset do you have?

I have a motorola v300.

The V300 and it's cousins are not known for getting a good signal. They are among the worst. Also, the coverage you get from different carriers can also depend on the area you live in. Here in my area Cingular has rather crappy coverage while Tmobile is pretty good.

The Motorola V360 is the best Moto I've ever owned but it's not available in upgrades anymore. Mine has worked perfectly since I bought it and it's been almost a year. Currently I have the MDA which I believe is a great handset.

If you know someone with a nokia, try using it in places you would normally have issues. Even the cheapest nokia's are known to have great reception compared to others.

hi, sorry about that ,, i think that the new Nokia 6133 that is coming out in a few days is supposed to be a really great phone with one of the best receptions. I was thinking of getting it when it comes out because I somewhat have the same problems as you in certain places,

I have a question about T-Mobile. Is the coverage the same whether you have a pre-pay with T-Mobile or you have a contract service? I heard somewhere, maybe here, that prepaid customers don't get the same coverage is this true?
Can't decide which carrier to go with. I live 2 miles due east of the Gainesville, Florida Airport (32609).
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Prepaid service coverage is not the same as regular postpaid coverage. The agreements are different for the services between different carriers.

I agree with many of the comments. The Motorola V300 is notorious for service and connection issues. An upgrade could very well solve the problem for you. The best bet for reliable service would be a Nokia. Otherwise give an upgrade Motorola or Samsung a shot, all are going to be better than the V300 regardless.

Well, I can say I've had many a phone over the years with T-Mobile, and my mother has the same service, she has a different phone but still the same issues. As much as I hate ☹️ to do it, I think I will change to Unicel. I know I have heard horror stories about them, but they do have excellent service here in the Northwest although they have crappy family plans as you can not get a True Nationwide, I have to buy the $40.00 Nationwide plan and pay $20.00 per each additional phone, where as most other carriers offer extra phone lines for $9.00+ each. The pros, I get much greater coverage, inquiring at our local store they get coverage in towns close to my town that we do travel to that T-Mobile doesn't even come close to. The con, paying much...
