I just recently purchased a motorola pebl for $25.00 from a friend that has T-Mobile. I currently have Cellular One service and this pebl is a locked phone. I'm looking to see if anyone knows the unlocking code for this phone. Hit me back if you can help. I'm also a customer service rep with Cellular One. Thanks.

T-Mo tends to be very easy about unlock codes. As long as your friend has had service for at least 90 days and hasn't had an unlock code req for at least 90 days, the easiest way to get it is to have your friend call T-Mo to get it. Unlock codes are serial number specific and there is no general unlock code for PEBL's.

Call T-Mobile back and tell them you want the unlock code now. If my understanding of this article is correct they now have no choice but to give it up right away. Don't take **** from T-Mobile reps.... Keep on reading for the article I'm talking about.

US Copyright Chief Breaks Handset Locks
Nov 24, 2006, 1:08 PM source: Ars Technica / Library of Congress

Thats kinda incorrect. Read Carefully this line "allow users to take their handset with them if they switch carriers" Hes not switching carriers, hes getting a phone from someone else.

$25 is a sweet price for a PEBL. I had it twice though and the software is really crappy, no EDGE, and it doesn't work with opera mini and google maps all too well.

We got info yesterday that that ruling does not change our SIM Subsidy Unlock process. Sorry. 🙂

My udnerstanding of the ruling is that, for carriers, everything is like it has always been. But now it is specifically not illegal to get your phone unlocked from somewhere, buecause it isn't breaking a DRM which has always been debated.
