Been out of contract for a year

Hey everyone,
I've been using a Motorola V300 for the past two years, and I've been out of contract for the past year. I think it's time for an upgrade, but none of the "Free with contract" phones really tickle my fancy. The T629 is $100 with 2-yr contract, but existing customers have to open up a new line of service to get this discount.

Is there any way I can get a good deal on a phone, by entering into another contract to upgrade? I read something about calling customer service and complaining about how new customers get better deals with other providers, and threatening to take my business elsewhere (I guess they give you a better deal or reduced price phone if you do this), but I don't want to do this in case it backfires and they c...

All last month, T-Mobile had the t629 for 49.99 for existing customers. Guess you missed out.

Dang, are you serious? Where does it display these deals? I actually checked online a few weeks ago, but the T629 was out of stock so no price was displayed...
