This might be a strange question. I have a my faves phone and account. If I wanted to use a phone that was "not my faves compatible" would the my faves still work. Is the my faves information stored within the t-mobil system and the phone only acts as a way to update the my faves list. My theory (but I could be totaly wrong) is that the only time the faves part of the phone is really necessary is when I'm changing the my faves numbers. after that it acts like any other t-mobil phone and the t-mobil system is actually keeping track of which of you calls are to a my faves number. Okay, so I jumped the gun and asked the question before searching. After a quick look, I see that it does work. But you may or may not be forced to switch back if you are not an employee, correct? From what I read it looks like you might be okay even if you are not an employee as long as you purchased a my faves phone, correct? You don't necessarily need to be using it so you could use any phone you want as long as they know at some point you purchased a my faves phone? Or can they tell what phone you are using? Also, is it as simple as switching out sim cards?

A special phone is required to sign up for and manage myFaves, but once you have it set up and have used a myFaves phone on your account you are free to use whatever phone you want. The actual myFaves info is stored in the T-Mobile system not the phone. They are not making customers switch if the customer owns, and has used at least once, a myFaves phone on the line.
