there are hardly any nextel phones on there now.
the i850, i760, i836 and a few others have been removed from there.

iden is DYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I honestly believe the Motorola i880 will probably be the last iDEN only handset Sprint launched. Going forth from the i880, I'd like to think any other iDEN handset will actually be a PowerSource one (CDMA for voice/data channels & iDEN for PTT). Just wait until 1xEV-DO Rev A is released across the entire 1xRTT network people. Can we say VoIP as well as hello QChat? LOL!
...
this disturbs me if this is true because the hybrid phones lack the ability to roam, which pretty much gives them the same basic problem as the iden phones NO ACCESS to other carriers networks which when you look at the "SPRINT" 1900 footprint is less than the IDEN footprint.
...
The hybrid phones will roam, but ONLY on other PCS networks. Nationwide, you do wind up gaining coverage (e.g. Montana, Alaska + a lot of roaming out west), but locally, you could actually lose coverage (voice) where you once had it.
I live in an area where the overlap is good. That must be the determining factor as to whether or not an individual should purchase these phones or not. Hopefully, the interference issues between IDEN frequencies and 800 CDMA will be resolved so that future phones will truly offer enhanced coverage for all.
Reception-wise, the PS phones rock! My wife's 502 probably has better reception than even my old i700 did! I haven't found a single metal building in my area where coverage is available that her phone w...

The Motorola i876 is an iDEN phone is somewhat unique in that it's another attempt to sexify the iDEN handsets. We can't say that "espresso" brown is all that sexy, but its slimmer profile goes a long way to reduce the bulk factor. It has a smooth finish, and the paint scheme has flecks, or "grinds" that give it some visual texture and just a wee bit of sparkle. One interesting thing is that it uses a Linux-Java platform, and Motorola said it will be moving more of its phones to a Linux-Java platform over the coming year.
There are buttons all around the outside of the phone to ...

iDen is still going to be up and running well over half way into this century? Perhaps you guys have been using your phones TOO much. I think the radiation, as minuscule as it might be, has actually altered your state of consciousness.
