I am going to smash my i730 and leave Nextel forever

First off, I have been with Nextel now for over 3 years. I am a project manager for a large general contractor in South Florida (Ft. Lauderdale to be exact). The radio feature is fantastic for construction because virtually every one of my subs has it, and I got Nextels for all of the people that work for me.

I have an i730, and my employees all have i530s. What complete pieces of crap. I used to have one of the older candybar phones, and while it wasn't as good as phones my friends had from other carriers, it was 10x better than the ones we have now.

Let me define "better". It worked. I got a signal. I could talk without dropping calls. That's really all I want a phone to do.

Our current phones will lose signal when you'r...

There is a fix for the intermittent signal issues in the i730. Give Express Radio in Coral Springs a call and ask them about the fix.

I know of a few that have had their i730's fixed at the West Palm NEXTEL service center and are much happier with the performance of the phones.

I don't think there is any factory modifications for the i530's, or at least I haven't seen any bulletins.

Is it me, or have I been reading (and hearing from friends who use Nextel) about intermittent service issues and dropped call problems more and more lately? Whether it's information I'm following on forums (like HoFo) or seeing my friends ready to strangle the first person they come across because of their phone'...

"Lousy Phonescoop"? If you're not partial to the website, then get lost. I'm tired of reading grammatically inept posts, and listening to illiterate fools.

Wow, I can see why people do not understand you. Dude work on your spelling and maybe a bit on the grammar (I am not going to use excellent grammer myself on here..) but stil, could you at least try and make SOME sense in your words? Thanks.

i just went over it again, and it was perfect for me. i could understand it. if you couldnt understand it something is really wrong with you... it was clear, concise information. maybe some of the words were misspelled, which i could care less becuase this isnt school, but the grammar was good and it was easy to understood. it isnt my fault that you dont know how to read. read it again and slowly then you might understand. i can see if i can get the number to hooked on phonics maybe you should make an appointment.

again, it made sense to me, too bad that you dont understand it.. why dont you copy and paste the things you dont understand and i will explain it to you.

Thanks for the info guys, even though some of it's a bit hard to decipher. 😈

I too had heard that Nextel's advertising campaign had stretched their network past it's limit, which is why calls are constantly dropped for no reason and signal fluctuates all over the place.

Is the i860 or whatever the new camera phone is supposed to be any beter than the one I have? I really do need the damn radio function for work.

the i860 is supposed to have, and be better then the other phoens out there becuase they implemented better RF signal software in the phone. so i would think the signal would be better, no?

if you have any questions of what i said or any one else said, you should copy the things we said and paste them on here and ask the questions on it and we will be gladly to help you..

since you need the radio function to work, check out the i325 and i315. both of these phones have off network push to talk that has a radius, when there is no service on the phone, up to 7 miles. ( i dont know if thats exactly accurate on both phones so you should actually ask nextel for more details.)

thats why its most important that nextel keeps rolling out to...

Slightly off.....best I've had is 3.4 miles off-network. I think they have "up to" 4-5 mile range.

If you want a great phone, and since you are in construction, go back to the i58. One of the best phones ever made.

well the 730 sucks in general. try the 710, i have had that phone before and thats a very strong phone regarding the signal strength. take a look at the new 315 and 325 where there is off network push to talk built in, however thats up to 1-5 mile radius when your off the network. meaning no service..

you should file network tickers so you can let the nextel engineers to see what the problem is and to to work on the problem.

also see if those phones might be defective. go to a service center to see if there is some kinda problem or a rss software upgrade that you need or what not, becuase sometimes that can be the case.

i wouldnt leave nextel yet, give them a chance first then if you arent happy then you should think about leavi...

Norman74, what you are experiencing is over-flooded networks. The Direct Connect walkie talkie uses a very low frequency, so it works great. But bc the Nextel networks are so clogged, Voice calls are a joke. (Same here in Orlando).

There is no hope. Good Luck.
