They're merging for sure. They announced a 34 billion dollar deal just a little while ago. It'll take them a few years to merge properly, though...so don't rush off and get rid of your Sprint/Nextel service just yet.

they are goign to merge, however this merger can be terminated by sprint or nextel of course they would then have to pay a 1 billion dollar break up fee. so right now by law sprint has to compete with nextel and vice versa. the shareholders, the fcc, ftc, and doj have to all OK this deal.

just be patient.
