First off sprint stinks because they have low level poor revune generating customers, not to mention too many plans that are difficult to understand. Actually, Sprint has the highest ARPU in wireless.
T-Mobile is certainly no joke. They are making good money and recently broke the 30 million customer mark.
Nextel service is relied upon by nearly 90% of businesses and government agencies. They were the only service that worked on 911 and 48 hours after Katrina.

the fact that i work in a sprint call doesn't make me biased to other cell phone providers. i currently have verizon and can't wait to get out of my agreement w/ the new technologies sprint has in store. i've sampled and tried just about every major carrier out there...i.e. att, tmobile, verizon, and nextel...the fact that sprint made 7.9 billion dollars last year is no small feat. we're not going out of business my friend

Some will say that's just business, but I maintain that there's clean, fair, adult-behavior, competitive business and then there's underhanded business. I won't support the ones who can't compete cleanly (VZW in this case), and I will call them on it every time I see it (VZW again).

Members of my family HAD verizon and had no service for at least 1 month after Katrina. They actually went in and changed to reliable NEXTEL so that they could have service once we were able to come back home. I regret to inform you that I did not have a camera crew following my movements at that time, so proof would be a little hard to come by. I'm not here to argue, just stating my personal experience. If you insist I am wrong, I cannot change your mind. My service was out for 2-3 hours, but soon after, Verizon had set up a portable tower nearby and my service was working again. Granted, the reception was not the best, but did allow me to make calls to loved ones to inform them that I was alive and well. I was with a person that did have direct connect, and yes, they were able to use the service the entire time. Well here we are in the midst of another hurricane down in the gulf coast area. And what do you know. My Nextel Phone never failed me. My family is now on Sprint and lo and behold their phones are working fine, with no loss of cellular service even though we have evacuated.
However, the same can't be said for AT&T and Verizon. I still have friends that had to stay in New Orleans because they are essential personell and guess what they have either AT&T (Because that is whom they work for) or Verizon (Stupidly) guess who they had to call to communicate with their family members. Yep me on my nextel cell service. The family members aren't even in the 504 area code presently and have evacuated but their Verizon and AT&T phones still will not...

Sounds like someone really does not have a Clue. Nextel was the ONLY carrier that worked after Katrina. It is because of this that I will keep my Nextel with Direct Connect as long as possible. The only joke in this industry is Verizon and what's the name of that other company, they don't know either. When the network is up and running, over 3000 miles. Off-network, about 6 miles. The six mile range, while very short, would allow an underground construction crew to communicate with one another, or rescue workers who are pulling someone out of an abandoned well, or builders who are constructing a warehouse up in the mountains where there are no cell towers.

I worked for Sprint for 4 years as a rep and Store Manager. I finally saw the light, it was a train called Nextel. IDEN is without a doubt garbage in legacy Sprint's eyes. I was in Washington DC when they showed us the future of IDEN. It's life expectancy did not exceed past 2010. So IDEN will go away and Sprint will migrate to QChat. If IDEN is so great why are they trying to sell it? I work for another CDMA provider that has great customer service something Sprint can never seem to accomplish. That is why they accept 70% for a satifactory customer service scores (CSAT) and run a churn rate higher then any carrier.
