Ok - I am switching to Nextel (from Verizon) for work reasons. I know legally you may not be able to say when new phones and new plans are coming out (or maybe you can...) but if not...is now a stupid time to switch? When is a smarter time?
Thanks

hey, yea you are right i am not to tell about what new phones are coming out or new plans for obvious reasons as well as i dont know if this site is monitored by the fcc and sec etc...

"is now a stupid time to switch? When is a smarter time?"

i wouldnt say its a stupid time and if there is a smarter time. i would say if you want to switch go ahead and switch. you can always change plans and upgrade phones anytime you want. (cept for the new 2 year policy that is going on now.. its called the upgrade freq program. for more information go here... http://www.nextel.com/support/upgrade_frequen cy_policy.shtml )

i would say get nextel and wait to see what happens with new plans and phones. i dont know if you pay attention to nextel's co...

Some of my friends have the 860, that phone has a sweet screen display and takes pictures while still having PTT and you won't get that ability anywhere else. The 860 is also the size of a normal flip phone instead of the bricks that Nextel used to offer.

exactly my point. i was hinting that with the merger and with the phones like the i860 instead of the "bricks" that nextel used to have things should get better. thats what i was hinting at.

i was also talking about the upgrade freq plan... here is a little clip....

If you wish to upgrade more than once, during the 24-month period.
You may upgrade as often as you like and still receive Nextel's National Promotion Price (one-year commitment price).4 You're just limited to receiving the lowest promotional price once every 24 months.

again, i provided you the link on my other post.

good luck with your decision.

any questions please ask.

The switch to nextel is not a question - but more of a timeframe - when...

I really do like the 860 - but would love to get the best price with the best plan...and do it only once! (rather than upgrading...etc...)

well, you can get nextel for the price that they are offering which is about $250 with 50 mail in rebate. i would recoommend that phone for you becuase it is a very good phone. as to the plan, it depends what you want. if you want free incoming you get free incoming if you want anytime mins you should check out the 1000 anytime min for about 55 bucks per month.

with nextel things have been slow with the technology with phones and now know one knows if the phone technology will be better especially with the sprint merger.

i would say get it and then wait till you see another phone that you like becuase it could be months or years before you see a better phone then the i860 with nextel.

again, get dont wait. its better to get it no...

I am a 19104 - and will most likely get the 1000 National Minutes for $55

1) Is that a 1 or 2 year contract to get the $50 rebate on the 860?

2) Is that national direct connect as well?

yea, the 1000 national mins is a very big hit with our customers and new subscribers. in fact they pick that more than they pick the free incoming plans.

1. that is a 2 year contract.

2. well you always have nationwide direct connect, however, you will have to pay if you dont get "unlmited nationwide direct connect" i belive that UNDC plan is about 10 bucks per month added to your monthly bill. if you do not get that and if you make nwdc calls (direct connect calls) then you will have to pay.

i mean if you think of it.. why not get the nationwide 1000 and then add the 10 dollars or (15 dollars with text plan) for nwdc instead of adding the internet, and all of the other things you wont need.

you are welcome. any other questions just ask and i will be glad to help.
