Hey everyone! I am desperately looking to get away from Sprint! The only things I like about Sprint are their cellphones & their Ready Link service. I was looking at Verizon, Nextel, & Cingular. I was wondering which one of these offer the best Service and features. I am looking for PTT service, Early nights, and mobile to mobile. Most important is the ability to make phone calls!! I know Nextel has the best PTT hands down but what about the cellphone part? Is it reliable? I would like for someone to help "sell" me on their service. I will post this in the other forums to see what everyone says. The reason I wanted to post it here is because I see there are a lot of cellular employees posting in here. Thanks for your time. π

Where are you located?
...
i will help you answer some question but without knowing where you live its difficult to say if you have good coverage or not. nextel doesnt have mobile to mobile and early nights so you wont really want to come here if thats what ur looking for. i would stick with sprint though, becuase they offer mobile to mobile push to talk and early nights. the only other carrier that has push to talk is verizon but i am not sure if they have early nights.
nextel is very good with their voice side, becuase i had them for 7 or so years now and been very happy with the service. (same with my friends and others)
yes, nextel is reliable but most important is since nextel-sprint merged it will help improve coverage and bring new and innovative servi...

I am located in the NYC area. I have heard their voice coverage is sh!tty from some people while others have said it has gotten better. I am willing to make a compromise on some of the features I am looking for IF the service is good. Hope this helps. π

Well NYC isnt that great for nextel, even though, when i was there within 2-3 months i had pretty good service. sprint is very good in new york city, at least when i brought a sprint phone with me and the people who i visited had sprint phoens too. they said they loved it there.
nyc is always very hard with those building and strict zonning laws. remember you can try nextel for 14 days to see if it is good there. i think it just depends where in nyc you are located in.
like i stated earlier i would stick with sprint becuase they offer the solutions and products that you offer, but try nextel. (by the way wait after day 1 or september 1st where there will be a lot more functions avaliable for nextel's subscribers with sprint. )

Well I HATE Sprint!! I have had TOO many issues to list here so I won't get into that. πΏ I know all about their merger with Nextel so I won't lie and say that I am not concerned. So what exactly is supposed to change for Nextel on September 1st?? π
...
well 1.9ghz doesnt transmit that well when buildings are there and nyc has plenty of buildings. but from my experience and my friends' experiences they didnt have any problems.
well just basic functions that nextel customers can take advantage of sprint's.
mobile to mobile. fair and flex plans. no etfs between each other's networks. no activation fees. things like that. i posted this information on the forums i think on this one and on sprint's. i cant really go into details becuase day 1 isnt here yet, but i will keep everyone informed.
did you happen to find the things i mentioned about the merger? (if not let me know)
...
Yeah I was just reading them. I guess I will just keep an eye on what's going on. I still have 2 months left on my contract with Sprint. I would appreciate any info that you or anyone else can share. Thanks for your help btw. π
...
no problem what-so-ever. if i can be helpful in anything else please ask and if you need any clarification with what i have said please ask and i will try to help.
i will be sharing information after day 1 regarding the merger to the board (and sprint's board).
i am here to help so please ask questions. π
why dont you like sprint by the way?
(the problem is the only solutions that you were asking for is either sprint or nextel and that is it. so it is very hard to say otherwise. )
...
My reasons for hating Sprint are 1) Rude as hell care reps 2) Billing issues 3) Can't make a Motherfu*king phone call without dropping the call 4) Charging me for calls I DIDN'T make (I guess this goes under billing issues π ). That's about the gist of it. πΏ I was hoping Nextel would be better because I do like Sprint's Ready Link service (It did seem a little slow compared to my cousin's Nextel direct connect though). π²
...
yea, their customer care does lack and i will admit that, that is why i actually left them. they are improving in that area especially when nextel's execs have fun with them. lol.
billing issues, well if you look at billing issues go to cingular and verizon becuase they have the worst. not sure about tmobile usa, but they dont have the solutions u need anyway.
with calls, well again 1.9ghz doesnt usually do that well inside apartments and with buildings in nyc. i didnt have that problem though. they are working on that as well. (spending a lot of money increase in building coverage) and with barry west at the helm you will see that improve.
yea, i have tried ready link and i liked it but nothing will do well against direct connect...

I have heard of "Qchat" but thought it was gateway technology under development to enable Sprint ReadyLink to connect with Direct Connect. I sell Sprint and am just trying to learn as much about Nextel as possible in order to be ready for (cue the ominous music) DAY 1!!! Am I wrong about the Qchat thing?
...
well there are 2 parts of qchat;
1. is the gateway between ready link and direct connect.
2. is that you can use push to talk on the cdma network on REV A.

I would recommend going to nextel, if your still on a contract wait till sept 1, trust me everything your looking for will be there with the Nextel side of the new company. And since you have like 2 months left you wont have to worry bout the etf. NEXTEL is the way to go.
...
well, he lives in new york city, and new york city isnt really friendly to nextel. i mean the service is OK, but not great. (i have been there personally)
(by the way you posted to the wrong person, but that is ok)

Apparently, Call_ended cares and I am trying to help him please do not be a pain and if you do not want to help him, especially with the statement βwho caresβΒ then just do not respond and interrupt our conversation.
