Potentially dumb question
Okay, I am considering switching to iDEN because I am somewhat fed up of GSM, and I've got a dumb question on my mind. Is chirping only mobile to mobile, or can it also be used to contact someone with a landline? I prefer asking here than asking the arrogant asses that Telus Mobility are.

DC (Direct Connect) only works between Nextel (not Sprint) subscriber's phones...

and telus with mic capability

chirping and mobile to mobile are differnt things...

I warned you it was a dumb question!
I know very little about iDEN, that's why I asked...

Hmm, my question was a tad murky. I'll reiterate it. The walkie-talkie function that iDEN phones have, can it only be used to reach another Nextel (in my case, Mike) user, or can I also use it to reach a landline user?

No, you can't. Thats like trying to send a Text Message to a land-line phone. Totaly incompatable. Plus, don't Nextel use some wierd paging number for there DC? (I.E. *8#1 86**256 or somethin crazy like that)
