No More Unlimited plans?

I have noticed the plans for nextel are getting worse. I currently have the unlimited minutes for 99.00 with local long distance. They no longer offer that plan but I still get to keep it. Also this morning I noticed their 199.00 unlimted plan which gives you everything is no longer offered.

This is dissapointing because I went with nextel for their contractor style rugged phones and the unlimited plans because of the amount of minutes I use for business(about 3500-4000) a month. If these rates keep getting worse I would have to consider another carrier.

Nextel told me I can keep my plan thru 2010 but after that I would have to switch to a plan they offer. Also I cant even upgrade my phone because when you upgrade, your plan starts o...

The $199.99 unlimited is not going away. The $99.99 plan was a promo and is constantly removed and added again.
Upgrading your phone never affects your rate plan. If a direct rep is telling you this go to a dealer, like me, who typically knows more than the direct reps.

Its people like you who give legit companys like Nextel a bad name,
Of course you can boast this here,
And when you scam a customer into a lie like that Nextel still has 199.99$ Unlimited, you go crying to customer care, and think that they will accomodate you.

Here are the cold facts, like on Nextel.com and look at the current price plans that are being offered,

There is fair and flex Unlimited 199.99$ however, this is not really unlimited, it does not offer any internet, nor local Direct connect,

It has Unlimited Nationwide Direct Connect, but, you still pay for every single direct connect minute you use, regardless if its Nationwide or Local

So by the time you get "Unlimited Everything" your paying far more than you did with...

$199.99 unlimited is available. It has to be added on by care or telesales. Says so on the site. Just clarifying that if I heard you right.

The Only 199.99 Price plan that Care or telesales will add is the 199.99 Sprint Fair and Flex, witha 2 year contract,
offers a 10$ buy up to have Direct Connect
Thats right, it doesn't offer any direct connect
You also have to pay for your Internet and Text Messaging,

It's close to the old 199.99 unlimited,
But its not nearly the deal that they used to get,
And its with a 2 year contract.

I've thought about this. You've got to spend more than 3 combined hours per WEEKDAY PEAK to use 4000 minutes. And with things like 6pm nights and mobile to mobile, that has to be tough for the most talkative people. If you spend that much time on the phone, do you actually do anything else for your career? Like maybe use your office phone? Seriously, with 8 hour shifts Mon-Fri, minus lunch...half your career would be with a cell phone plastered to your face. What a life!!!

Southwest is exatly right. They won't/can't make you change your rate plan if you upgrade. However, in order to get the cheapest price on equipment, you will have to renew your contract 2 years but hey, you like Nextel and plan on staying with them anyway, right?

most customers sign a one or two yr. agreement meaning that once that agreement is up both are free agents. if Nextel wants to change the plan they can because there is no longer a binding contract held to the account.

As far as that you was lied to...I feel like southwestcomm, come in to a dealer so we can explain it to...no matter how many times you upgrade you keep your same plan unless you change it...

The 99.99 plan does not offer long distance...but i know for sure in my market (baton rouge, la) you can add the buy up option for 30 bucks which is nationwide long distance...unfortunatly it looks as though for the month of December they have taken it away...

yeah your getting ripped, first of all are you in construction type business or office type, if your office there is no reason you should be with a carrier just because they have "rugged phones" the first and most important thing to look for when getting service is coverage. w/o coverage i dont care how coll your phone is your not going to be able to use it if the service is crap.

ok back to the question.....CellularOne has an unlimted local plan just like Nextel for only 50.00 and month and an unlimited national plan for 75.00 a month. so to say the least your getting up the you know what with out lub.
