Questions about Nextel
I am thinking about switching to Nextel from my current service, but I have heard Nextel's coverage was ok at best. I know the walkie talkie feature is second to none. I live in California and do a good amount of traveling, mainly to major cities. Will I be dissapointed in coverage/reception with Nextel? How is the i860 phone? Thanks for any help

Coverage - check the maps on nextel.com and make certain it is where you travel to.
i860 - wife has carried one for along time and loves her phone.

I have checked the maps on nextel.com and it looks like there is coverage in the major cities. It is hard to get an exact read on coverage from the map, as with any carrier map. I was hoping for personal experiences(good or bad) from some nextel users. Thanks for the info on the i860.

Can't say anything bad about Nextel service. Yeah, coverage is sub-par but when you actually get a signal the call-quality using their cell service is incredible. Better than a landline. PTT is also second to known. Zero latency...

That didn't sound too encouraging! The coverage is sub-par huh? What state are you in? Thanks for your info. Anyone else?

Florida. However, Florida is great (IMO) as far as coverage goes with all the major wireless companies. It's when I travelled that I had issues. It's par the course, I had Nextel which was great in my house and in my general area (except for dropped calls and the network being taxed with too many users) and now I'm on the Sprint side with great coverage when I travel but no signal inside my house...

Thanks for your help. I am still a bit uneasy about the coverage with nextel. I may take the 30 day trial and see how that goes and make a decision from there. Anyone else have any input?
