iDEN 900 ...what do it mean ?
😲 What is the iDEN900 all about ? I am still pondering which new iDEN phone to get, then I notice "dual mode iDEN 800/900 as a feature".
...
iDEN is on 800 and 900 MHZ.
...
They have a lot of 900 MHz in their portfolio whether it is indirectly or directly owned. They use this spectrum to help with the 800 MHz consensus rebanding plan and they put 900 MHz on those areas in which they need extra spectrum. (They already have it on the majority of the towers) Remember, IDEN can use both 800 MHz and 900 MHz bands.
The dual mode 800/900 is great and it is like the 800/1.9 GHz (in CDMA) and 850/1.9 GHz (in GSM) because it allows for a more enhanced footprint and should help improve your coverage and capacity especially if that spectrum is deployed in that area.
I hope this helps.

Thank you for explaining that. I suspect having dual band capability is a plus but not a must have feature....regards

Is there a way I can tell if 900 has been deployed in my area? I'm kinda curious about this.....
...
Not really, however, if you ask an engineer they would be able to tell you.
You could check on your phone by using the trace status if your phone is currently using the 900MHz spectrum.

Evidentally it's not in my area then. My i530 and i730 are both usually on 862 or 865 (until I crushed my i730 of course... 🤣 ). Does it improve coverage a whole lot to be able to utilize 800 and 900 both?
