Motorola Q Info...
okay. Its official
The Motorola Q is 199.99 with a $100 mail-in rebate. The $20 Mail-in rebate on the Motorola Bluetooth h700 is also official.
I like the phone. But I think the battery life is JUNK. jmho (and my data support guys opinion).
I highly recommend a second battery.

If i buy the Q with two year contract, do i have to buy a data plan if i am not going to use any of it? Or can i just buy the phone and use it how it is?

In order to get a pda phone at the discount price it is a requirement to sign for the smart choice plans. That's what the person was talking about. If they buy at retail then they can just pay 30 a month for the data or just use it as a phone without it.

I ordered one today. I didn't get the second battery or any other accessories as the sales rep wasn't up to speed and nothing was on the site about the Q accessories. They recommended and I will search some of these forums for goody ideas.
I must say I can't get rid of my 3 yr old Moto 731 fast enough. Worst phone Moto ever made IMHO.

What if I want the phone, but dont want the smart phone packages? I went to the store today and their cheapest one is about $90 a month - if I'm not going to use the internet or anything of the sort do I need to have this special plan?

You would have to buy the phone at full retail cost with no contract. I believe its about 409.99.

the Smart Choice plns are great. You get everything alltel has to offer (other then insurance). Ex: 1200 minutes with National Coverage, unlimited internet/email, my circle, 7pm night and weekends, unlimited mobile to mobile, unlimited text messaging for only $110.
